The good professor has a video of Ted Haggard and Richard Dawkins in an interview from the BBC 4 production, "The Root of all Evil". (Note: Dawkins doesn't like the title; it was a producer choice.)

This is a really good video. Dawkins at his best; Haggard at his smarmiest.

5. Haggard is one scary dude

I just wish Dawkins didn't let Haggard make him angry. He should have laughed at how ridiculous Haggard was, especially about the bible never changing and all the writers agreeing with each other. Even the four gospels don't agree with each other.

6. Why does that ending confrontation remind me of Jonestown, Guyana?

Ted Haggard has that same volatile personality that drove Jim Jones to take more than 900 of his followers with him on a Kool-aid trip to hell. The way Haggard pulls up in his pick-up truck to confront Dawkins at the end of the video clip is reminiscent of the Peoples' Temple henchmen who attacked Congressman Leo Ryan (CA) and others as they boarded an airplane to flee Jonestown on November 18, 1978. Jim Jones's gunmen killed five people that day: Representative Ryan, a reporter from NBC, a cameraman from NBC, a newspaper photographer, and one defector from the Peoples Temple.

There was enough writing on the wall about the instability of Jim Jones to warrant a US Congressman traveling to South America to investigate on behalf of his constituents. Looks to me like Haggard might have the potential to go off the deep end like Jones. I wonder what the Secret Service thinks about all of this.
