1. I don't know that Kos is right, but he's not totally wrong.
Ford IS trending in the wrong direction, and that's not a good sign. I sure haven't given up hope, but it doesn't look good.

13. I believe you are right
Still enough room to win the Senate, and now Kyl is in play. What happened to Ford is interesting, and something that has to be wiped out in future elections. Repukes love to play dirty and admire other Repukes who do; if a Dem fights back, they screech like scalded cats. Next time, let's beat them to the punch with lots and lots of nasty, scrurrilous, filthy advertising...you take the low road, we'll take the lower road.

15. Please read this: Truman-Dewey: Why I've given up on this race

I'm looking at the numbers in the Truman-Dewey race and I have concluded that it is a waste to spend any more time or money on Harry Truman.

Instead, I'm devoting the rest of my efforts over this last few days to electing Frank Hook in Michigan over Republican incumbent Senator Homer Ferguson.

Truman is a lost cause at this point. I have seen all the polls (including a Dem internal), and I have to be honest -- Harry is toast.

Flame me if you must, but I think we need to devote ourselves to ousting Ferguson.

26. The thing to bear in mind about that 1948 election is this:
Aside from those two Wild Cards (TWO third party candidates, each with the ability to take MANY votes), there was an unprededented number of "undecided", a number that remained to the last days. The poll-takers unwisely pro-rated that number, and apportioned each portion to Dewey and Truman. That doesn't seem to describe the present situation at all.

5. My ONLY concern is an HONEST count of the votes.
With that concern put to rest, I can live with whoever the people from that State vote in.

A bumper-sticker idea, suggested in another thread: "LIVE FREE OR DIEBOLD!"

6. Personally, I don't mind if Ford loses...
so long as we can get the Senate another way.

He isn't a real Democrat, and he would vote with the Republicans on most of the issues.

8. The problem is that it makes taking the senate all the more difficult.
Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 04:19 PM by Mass
The dems would have to win the 6 other seats that are really in play:

PA,OH,MT,RI,MO,VA or have an upset victory in AZ. So, I hope the polls are wrong on this one.

12. AZ is trending toward Pederson......he's to 4 points of Kyle, I read......

Pederson progress here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x2565375

The others are doable.

Ford is not a goner as of yet. I think this kind of thinking doesn't help us. He has a fighting chance. Just wish he would have smiled more often, and not been so intense all of the time...although I don't know if it would have made a difference with the folks who still live in the pre-reconstruction mentality zone. :(

difficult. We can either ignore the truth and be too confident or be aware and work as hard as possible to make this possible.

I do not even consider that Patrick (MA Gov) has won at this point. He is certainly the favorite , but it is too early to say the race is won. What I am most concerned by is that people stay home because they think it is a done deal and that there is no other competitive race in the state.

But of course, you are right.....we can't think it's won, till it is. No arguments from me on that one!

Report from Tennessee: Get Out the Vote
by Tula Connell, Nov 2, 2006

Jeremy Golston from Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., writes to urge all union members to do everything we can to get out the vote this election year.

Most of you who follow politics know there is much at stake in this election. It seems that we have come a long way in this election year to boost pro-labor candidates to be recognized as credible candidates who understand working-class issues.

19. What is the purpose of "writing off" anything at this point
It's like watching the networks in 2000 with their early predictions. So what is Kos saying, don't try? Don't vote?

Useless.

I'm glad to see the Tennessee Democrats are telling him to shove it - they're still going to work their asses off this weekend to elect a Democrat.

21. Kos is an assclown if that's the reason he's written Ford off.
Who gives a flying fuck who he likes at this point. He's an influencial blogger. He needs to grow up and remember that people are watching and not say things on a whim.

He's writing off Ford, but he still thinks Lamont has a chance. Astute political analysis, eh?

He's pissed a lot of people off with this. Dumb, dumb, dumb move.

25. Arizona a better chance than TN?
Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 06:43 PM by fujiyama
No one even looked at AZ a few weeks ago. While Pederson has some momentum, Kyle is a major dick, but a veteran incumbent. It takes a LOT to kick out an incumbent.

Either way, in a year when Dems have a chance to pick up several seats, it'd be stupid to write any state off.

And Ford is about as good a candidate you'll find for TN. All the polls show it to be real close still. It's an uphill race though in a very red state...but AZ is even tougher...
