In order to meet recruitment goals and even though the Army has doubled the sign-on bonus to $40,000 and extended the allowable recruitment age to 42, it seems Army recruiters still have to "lie" to candidates in order to get em' to sign on the dotted line.

Lies like this:

"War? Its not a war. They never used those words. We haven't declared war."

"Will you be going to Iraq? Pffff, heck no, no one's going to Iraq. In fact we're bringing them home."

"Hey look, if things don't work out in training you can go home. We call it a "failure to adapt" discharge. And it won't be held against your record or anything."

How can they sleep at night? Knowing the lies they're telling these young people will get some of them killed? The lies started with Bush and continue downward from there.....

No matter what the recruiter tells you, all of the obligation falls on the person enlisting. The government can lie to you, double-cross you, trick you out of benefits, deploy you for any reason (or no reason), and deny you pay, promotion or privilege on a whim. All perfectly legal.

You express a reservation about an illegal order or an illegal deployment, and you're in the hoosegow.
