And I think the Bush DoJ has a policy in not taking plea agreements in drug cases.

Basically, the guy would much rather admit to a federal crime and face some serious jail time (hello, sentencing guidelines and minimum sentences without parole) than admit he might be gay, which isn't even illegal.
