Last post until Nov. 8 -- "This Is Our Time"
I'm one of those folks who had the misfortune of reading the writing on the wall with the republican party back in the early 1990s. As such, I moved into the Democratic camp in... shall we say... not its most glorious moments. For well over 10 years, I have listened to my Republican counterparts give me grief for leaving just as the rest of the USA was heading in their direction. (The truthfulness of falsehoods within that statement not being important at the moment.) I've had enough.

I left because I no longer had a seat under their tent. My view, values and beliefs had been pushed aside for the likes of Pat Robertson... James Dobson... Newt Gingrich and every other Republican who stopped believing in fiscal responsibility, smaller government, power to our families, and choice in our own lives.

I have news for all of those counterparts: This is our time. In just 12 short years my fellow Americans have felt sickened by the route of the GOP. Even as many of us former Republicans raised red flags, the march continued until now we sit on the brink of a cliff. I feel it. You feel it. What's most important is that roughly 60% of our neighbors feel it too. This is our time to rise up as a people and try to right what has been wrong about our nation for years now. Nothing less can be accepted.

Although there is nothing wrong with being a dreamer. I *know* such significant change cannot happen by itself. We -- you and I -- need to be the catalyst. Between now and 9 p.m. on Nov. 7th every eligible Democratic or Democratic-leaning voter must be personally contacted and urged (dragged if necessary) into his/her polling place. It's a big task, but one we can accomplish if we work together.

Canvass -- there are teams setting up throughout our nation. Call your local Democratic headquarters or union hall and ask if you can climb aboard! In many areas you can receive compensation for your time spent on the phone, on foot, driving or whatever else between now and election day.

Phone Bank -- people are gathering everywhere to phone their friends and neighbors. Don't assume someone else is going to do it for your neighborhood -- YOU NEED TO BE WHAT YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD.

This is our time! Yet, if we don't get out there and beat the pavement for it, our time will slip away.

GO - GO - GO!! I'll meet you back here on November 8th and we'll all celebrate the latest victory of the United States of America. It's going to be a great day for our nation, our children, our schools, our working families and our most vulnerable.
