11 service members have died in the first two days of November

U.S. troop deaths rising while Bush insists on keeping his new Iraq war plan secret.

In a troubling trend of increasing violence against U.S. troops this autumn, 11 service members have died in the first two days of November, all but one killed in combat.

Of those, three were Marines killed Thursday in combat in Anbar province.

Those 11 bring the number of American fatalities in the war to 2,822. Seven contractors working for the Defense Department also have been killed.

Six of those killed in the past two days were Marines based in Anbar province and five were soldiers in the Baghdad area.

1. My heart sinks... My nephew is being sent to Iraq now...

I just learned that my nephew, who graduated from high school this past spring, is going to be sent to Iraq. He is in the Army National Guard. It's absolutely terrifying--it's madness. I despise the Neocons and BushCo for this unnecessary, foolish, terrorist-breeding war. I want to feel hopeful that the election might turn things around and get us out of the nightmare in Iraq, but I'm edgy because I bet Rove has the fix in the works. There's no way this evil creep is going to allow the Dems to gain power and possibly expose Bush and Cheney to impeachment and whatever else.
