Daughter's Childhood Friend is a Soldier in Iraq |
|
WHY is he a solider in Iraq? Well, since he was a little kid he wanted to to grow up to be an NYPD just like his Daddy. The major problem with that is that now he has to have 64 college credits or be working toward it.
He went to college for one semester and flunked out. He tried to join the Army and flunked the physical (underweight). He spent 6 months trying to put on weight, while he worked as a militatry recruiter. He only gained 5 of the 15 pounds required, but apparently got a lot of recruitments. The Marines took him.
So, what is the point of all this? IF he has 4 years of MILITARY service, the NYPD will accept that in lieu of 64 college credits.
In this instance, I would say Kerry was on the mark. If my daughter's friend hadn't flunked out of college, he would never have had to join the Military, and sent to Iraq, as a stepping stone to the career he really wanted -- a police officer.

1. did he flunk out of college because he was lazy? |
|
or just not smart enough? Could be like many others his age he just didn't apply himself enough.
Regardless, Kerry DID NOT SAY guys like this young man were not smart enough.. that was not aimed at anyone other than Bush.
