Did Cheney just destroy GOP chances on Tuesday?
Come Sunday morning, America will hear him say that even if Repubs lose Congress, he and Bush are going 'full speed ahead' in Iraq.

Cheney said that even with pollsters predicting Democrats will likely make gains in both houses of Congress on Tuesday, voter sentiment would not influence Bush's policy.

"It may not be popular with the public — it doesn't matter in the sense that we have to continue the mission and do what we think is right. And that's exactly what we're doing," Cheney said. "We're not running for office. We're doing what we think is right."

The Dems batter get this on tape when it airs and turn it into a campaign ad by noon. Run it everywhere. It's a GOP-killer.

Run an ad with Cheney saying the American people don't matter, and we'll get a veto-proof majority out of this election.

WTF are they thinking?

1. WTF are they thinking?
THAT'S the problem -- in their desparation, they are NOT thinking.

Come the morning of November 8th, it will be blatantly obvious to the country (and the world) that this Administration is acting AGAINST the wishes of the American people.

See ya at the Hague, Dickwad.

43. What's happening with the Iraqi oil fields?

Recently I read reports that they were finally about to become very productive, but then I also hear that by pulling out we will lose control of them. My thought has always been, with all the former oil executives in charge of our government, that this really was their primary mission in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East.

In the same category, * chose this week to insist that Rumsfeld was doing a "fantastic" job and was going to stay as long as he was President. Clueless, or what?

Even that alkie Hitchens pointed out that the word "fantastic" comes from "fantasy."

Cheney the lunaticis telling the American public that their opinions do not matter. He is saying that he will ignore Congress. He says this three and a half days before an election. Well on the one hand he has conceded the election; on the other he has enraged a few million people re his lack of knowledge about who serves whom.

Thanks you big Dick!

imho this is real news! the fact that the VP of the USA doesn't care what we the citizens think should be the main story on ever MSM and local affiliate in the country.

A few Senate Republicans will have to be convinced that the nation's best interest lies in voting for a conviction on the impeachment charges against Bush and Cheney. The fewer Republicans there are, the better.

We've all seen our own toddlers do this. We've all seen other toddlers do this to their parents in grocery stores.

It's called: "I'll keep yelling until they give in."

Well, once in a while a brave parent does the right thing, picks the kid up and carries him/her screaming to the carseat, buckles them in, and leaves the groceries in the cart in isle 9.

Hey Cheney: Welcome to isle 9. It's carseat time. Buh bye.

The insane and traitorous neocons want to keep our troops in Iraq forever.

At the current pace, we maintain control of Iraqi oil reserves, accomplish nothing else, and lose troops every day. Our troops are dying for corporate profits.

Of course chicken-hawk, chicken-shit Cheney wants the war to go on. It means big money for him and his traitor pals.

Chicken Cheney couldn't fill out deferment forms fast enough, but he wants our brothers and sisters to die forever in endless war.

38. So he's completely ignoring us voters, huh?
I think he's channeling Stalin, who is said to have quipped, "The Pope? How many divisions does he have?" when he was prompted to consider the Vatican's opinion on his actions.

If Cheney metaphorically says, "The voters? How many divisions do they have?" he's likely to learn that the answer is "all of them." If the Administration ignores the voters, we can and will kick them out on their asses. It's called impeachment, and we can make Congress do it if we scream loud enough.

I was amazed by this. It sounds like the sort of thing to only say after the votes are counted, unless they have totally given up. It sounds like they are positioning themselves to be facing a Democratic Congress.

Trying to think like Cheney (just got a bad headache) the only explanation I can think of is to energize the base. They are possibly hoping that if they energize their base enough they could hold on to the Senate.
