24. No they don't
I think this is a simple case of "fuck me?" .. "fuck you!". Can't remember the idiot's name but I'm referring to the one who said Rummy wasn't to blame for the Iraqi FUBAR; it was all the field commanders' fault. I can promise you that got around the Five Sided Circus and out to the Hqs at Warp 10.

They're not about to fall on their swords for him. Smirky and Co forgot one thing about loyalty; it's a two way street, otherwise it's just intimidation. The brass can read the tea leaves as well as the rest of us and they're not intimidated anymore.

31. It was an incredibly stupid thing to say publicly.
Public criticism is a hot button with military types, just not done. It undermines morale by sowing doubt through out the chain. It's one thing to be ripped behind closed doors; that comes with the job. But either fire me or support me.

45. I'm not military, and even I know you don't rip up your subs in public!
If you're gonna rip someone a new one, then you do it in private.
Doing it in public makes them lose face, often in front of their subordinates. BAD idea...

Praise in public is good...because then everyone wants a share.

Way to "Support the Troops", Rumdum...Better go out and buy another yellow magnet. They're starting to doubt you. :sarcasm:

Seems the survey was designed to focus exclusively on Rummy. This had to have taken some time to develop, approve and implement this survey. Say g'bye Rummy to your post.. say hello to Mr. Prosecutor

25. Thanks.
I was just curious to see what might have prompted Monday's editorial and at best, thought I might have found a few letters of disenchantment. The survey tells me it's been boiling up for a bit.

The bit on TV was preceded with something like "the men can't speak up so we'll do it for them".

But he's being used as an easy scapegoat by people who lack the courage to indict the president. (Think Lieberman and his ilk.)

51. No argument. Rummy's just one head of that hydra and not.
the worst one. That dishonor goes to Cheney; Bush is a sock puppet. That's why I've always believed impeachment and conviction would change nothing as long as Cheney is in place.

34. KO said it would be in the editorial
Anyone know who is responsible for the editorials in the Military Times? What if all the service's generals come forward and deny that they want Rummy to resign? I mean, is it just the magazine, or is on behalf of those services? It has to be JUST a magazine writing that in an editorial....WHO exactly is responsible for this magazine (or newspaper or whatever?)

I am so confused. Someone enlighten me. This cannot be that the different services are calling for Rummy's ouster, so it must be the magazine's editorial writers, who are.......???

35. nothing gets written in the "times" without prior approval
The "times" is a covert way for the officers to float ideas without having to sign their names. they may claim that they do not approve, but it is a long known fact that nothing gets in without oversight and approval.

43. They're newspapers published by the Gannett Publishing Group
They're not gov't owned or funded. There's a paper for each branch. 99% of the time the papers figures articles about who's who, policy changes, new equipment, etc. Essentially, it's the branch career force talking to itself. Generally, they stay away from politics because that is mine field, but once in awhile the lifers have it up to here with the politicians and you get a nuke like the forthcoming editorials. That all four are in on it is thermo nuke.

Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 10:41 PM by BushDespiser12
Minimum of three...anyone know the the total number? And now we have the servicemen and servicewomen themselves behind them. http://armytimes.com/content/editorial/pdf/022406_commandclimate_survey.pdf
This link is courtesy of "brook" in a previous post to mine and produces the survey backing the media's call for resignation.

And for the most fun you can have on one thread -- watch Chimpy in the hilarious hung-over tirade..

If he DOES then he's a 'CUT AND RUN' kind of guy, unable to lead.
