Tonight's was a must-see Countdown.
Way good back to front. If you missed, try to catch the replay.

3. Voting issues, how to build a bomb instructions on the Internets,
stuff on Haggard, and how the Army Times, Marine Times, Air Force Times, and Navy Times will run an editorial on Monday calling for the firing or resignation of Rummy. Plus some other good stuff.

4. OK, what I can recall...
...I was out of the room sometimes with the laundry.

Nuclear secrets on the internet
The Tweaking Preacher, swamped in denial
The Armed Forces magazines all calling for Rumsfeld'd firing/resignation
And all of the smaller regular features (Worst Person, Oddball, Newsmakers) were great.

Countdown: one of the best-fronted, -staffed, -written, and -edited non-fiction programs ever!

2. I have to wonder if the military is calling for Rumsfeld to resign
Who then does that leave in charge of the military? Could they, the military, have decided they will bring forth their on leader?

5. I don't think so.
SecDef is supposed to be a civilian. The Constitution calls for civilian oversight of the military.

My guess is they want someone even marginally competent. That would be a vast improvement over the senile waste of skin known as rumsfeld.

6. And what if they pick Kissinger... he's been haunting the hill for
a while now... then it would really feel like vietnam... and I'm too young to know what that felt like.
