The Army wanted to make an example of Anthony Vanderpool, but they may have made a made a mentally unbalanced man even worse.

The government's own military doctors knew that Spc. Anthony Vanderpool was mentally unbalanced. He had been admitted to the Bronx and Manhattan Veterans hospitals for Major depressive disorder, dizziness ,spells, auditory hallucinations and suicidal ideation , according to his VA records.

1. When my nephew got back from Iraq
he went to fill his antidepressant the pharmacist on the base asked for a certification of need. He was philosophical about coming back from Iraq and being asked to produce a reason for his depression. I asked him if other soldiers were on medication as well. He told me that many in his unit were. He doesn't want to be sent back.
