Anyone know if the Copyright rules are different for CSPAN?

Like the video of Senators debating on the Senate floor (on CSPAN), would you think that wold fall under the "Fair Use" clause?

Because I have a Great clip of Senator Byrd giving Senator Stevens a MAJOR Smack Down!

I'd love to upload it to YouTube, so I can post it here, but I'm a little bit intimidated now, after what happened with my old account at YouTube.

So, does anyone know where CSPAN falls? Because CSPAN is created by Congress, but paid for by the local Cable companies, but they are Public Figures and this is video of a Historic event (The debate over the $87 Billion emergency supplemental funding request)...

1. Nobody has ever challenged CSpan

When people get a cease and desist from them, everyone has complied. To my knowledge. They're very agressive about clips too, they don't care how small potatoes you are, they find you.

I agree with you, clips are fair use. I would say until somebody challenges it in court - but I don't trust the courts to protect us anyway. The corporate mindset is pervasive. It'll be seconds before someone shows up to prove the point - if they haven't already.
