Poll question: What are you doing to GOTV?
Just curious here about how many DUers are working on GOTV efforts?

How many plan to work from now through the election to remind people to vote?

1. Phone Banking, But Most Importantly In Addition I'm Talking To
everyone I know and meet and reminding them to vote. I've hit just about every co-worker and acquaintance so far and make sure I bring it up to any single person I possibly can. It has worked amazingly this week, and I'm proud to report that the overwhelming majority of responses have been positive towards our mission. Even better, is I've seen myself motivate quite a few people this week to assist in the GOTV efforts themselves! I've had several come up to me and say things like "I spoke to my sisters last night and they're in. They're going to talk to everyone they can to get them out on Tuesday too". I've had several say similar things. People want change. I've been amazed this week at how many people actually were aware of the issues and were fed up with the current state of things. I even converted a life long republican this week to commit to voting Democratic. Was a damn proud moment for me. He's a good guy and I've worked with him for about 5 years now. I've opened his eyes a little at a time in the past few years, starting with the Steve Friedman MIT voting report. Little by little I feed him things and we always have good discussions. He was always still a republican though. But that changed the other day. We had a great conversation and I was impressed with how much he knew about the issues we talk about. Most of them bothered him. Then with the Kerry thing, he saw my outrage that day and agreed with me how pathetic the GOP and media were being about it. The next day, I asked him if he's ever watched Keith Olbermann or heard his Special Comments. He said no, so I immediately began telling him how cool Keith is and how if he wants to see more of where I'm coming from, to check him out . I told him that he was having a Special Comment that night, and to tune in at 8 to MSNBC, or if he couldn't watch the whole thing to at least check it out at a quarter to nine. I'm PROUDER THAN HELL to say that the next day, I received an email in the morning from him saying he watched it and thought it was really good. When I spoke to him later, he stated that he really like the format and that Keith was really entertaining. He said he actually enjoyed the special comment and complimented Keith several times over. His only negative about the show was that he said there were "entirely too many commercials". But he ended the conversation by saying the following, after I asked if he'd check it out again: "Oh yeah, I could totally see myself watching this every night". Later on that day, in a quick passing, he committed to me that he definitely thinks it's time to vote for the Democrat this time. Mission Accomplished.

I have a good feeling about Tuesday, sans Diebold antics. Everyone I'm talking to is fed up and are not falling for the games. Not one of them were affected by the Kerry incident but they are all sick of the current administration, congress and the policies. I just can only hope that the rest of the country is similar to my small area of the world in which I'm having these experiences.
