Neocon Michael Rubin aims a sharp kick right at Bush Jr.'s groin
Michael Rubin, former Pentagon Office of Special Plans and Coalition Provisional Authority staffer: "Where I most blame George Bush is that through his rhetoric people trusted him, people believed him. Reformists came out of the woodwork and exposed themselves." By failing to match his rhetoric with action, Rubin adds, Bush has betrayed Iraqi reformers in a way that is "not much different from what his father did on February 15, 1991, when he called the Iraqi people to rise up, and then had second thoughts and didn't do anything once they did."

Rubin may be as much of an asshole as the rest of his buddies, but--I hope he connects.

1. This is the Neocon version of
taking the high road to salvage their dastardly political butts. Even though they are late coming to this table with their conclusions that * and his immediate props are a bunch of incompetents, they will likely try to take a huge slice of the remaining pie so they can regroup, reinvent and return with some other knight whose armor is less tarnished.

3. Hopefully they'll all be dead or in rest homes
by the time the nation's forgetfulness allows another Iraq to happen.

4. I Suspect That They'll Be Back in '08
The players will be blamed - not the strategy.

A new group of fresh-faced Hitler Youth will be back in '08 with the same message - and, sadly, I think their evil garbage will work again.

5. Does a chocolate bar in the noonday sun understand what's happening?
...is how Kevin Phillips put it, describing monkey's critical faculties when confronted with reality.
