"At least 105" servicemen killed in October

Check the 9th paragraph.

Why did the AP wire have to say, "at least 105" killed last month?

Because *co abandoned al-Taei after he was captured, at the demand of Al-Sadr, and we don't know if he is alive or dead. They left a man behind.

Don't ever forget that, or forgive it.

his funeral was here in North Texas this week

Army Spc. Nathaniel A. Aguirre, 21, of Carrollton, Texas

Aguirre died October 22, 2006 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered when his patrol came in contact with enemy forces.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

2. There were reports earlier today that he
is being held by Ba'athists not Al Sadr. I can't find the link now but it was here on DU. If this is true, Sadam's verdict on Sunday bodes very badly for him.

I wonder if the 'at least' remark is because of the media blackout and rumors regarding Forward Base Falcon.
