I just voted and was using the MicroVote machine and
its pretty simple to use and I didn't have any problems. Now whether my vote was recorded properly may be another story.

1. It's not ANOTHER story...
It's THE story.

2. What is/who makes the MicroVote?
Never heard of it before. Is it touchscreen?

I voted on a Diebold touchscreen for the first time yesterday. There is no voter-verified paper trail. This is what they're using in my FL precinct for early voting; it's Diebold optical scanners on election day.

On the surface it went very smoothly. I wanted my husband, a legal resident, to watch and they were very happy for that to happen, we just had to sign something saying that I authorized him to watch. Then we were taken to the DRE I chose to vote on (it was very quiet so I had my pick). The poll worker showed me where to place my card and gave me instructions about the screen prompts, and I went at it.

No problems. I'd even done my homework on the NP judges/commissioners and ballot measures so I'd know how to tackle those -- I brought a crib sheet! lol

When I got to the summary screen I had to scroll up and down to make sure my votes were recorded correctly. They were, though I triple-checked everything just in case. Then I cast my ballot and returned the card to a poll worker.

I'm quite unhappy about not knowing what the tabulator will do with my votes and remain highly skeptical of the entire process, but I'm still proud to say I did my civic duty.

4. Its manufaturer name is Direct Recording Electronics
I just had to scan the card to turn on the machine. The card was not in the machine while I was voting(at least I dont think it was)The poll worker scanned it for me.(a Democrat)I thought it was pretty simple to use..
But keep in mind in this red county of this red state the only Democrat that has a chance is our Democratic State Rep. candidate.Perhaps Sec of State..I just voted straight ticket and was on my way..Yes it is a touch screen.
These machines are suppose to be in use statewide.
The company name for the MicroVote is:

5. That's a new one by me
It sounds just like the Diebold (they probably all work basically the same way). I wonder just how many different companies are providing our election machines, and how anyone thinks a national standard can be properly maintained doing it this way!
