Sen McConnell R KY defining the nation's problems
McConnell: Iraq Problems Are The Media's Fault

A friend forwarded an e-mail from the Owensboro Rotary Club which highlighted last week's remarks by Senator McConnell (R). I found this passage most interesting, and disturbing:

"About Iraq the Senator said that if 24-hr. news service was available during the battle of Normandy, The President would likely have stripped Eisenhower of his stars and the operation would probably have failed."

Apparently, it's the media's fault, so says McConnell who also describes Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld as one of the nation's greatest Defense secretaries and President Bush (R) as one of the greatest presidents.

Scary and disturbing.

3. Scary
is correct. How can people as delusional as this even be considered to run for congress much less possibly win. No wonder the country is in a mess.

4. He's one of the main reasons Dems need to take the Senate.
Did I hear correctly that if they don't, McConnell gets Frist's vacated seat?:scared:

7. Eggs-Zactly, Sister!
McConnell is an amalgamation of the worst traits of Jesse Helms, Phil Gramm, and Newt Gingrich. Spare us, please!

5. Oh, yeah--he's a closet case from way back (I'm formally from KY)
Besides, he has to protect his wife's job under the Bush regime--Elaine "The Beard" Chao, Secretary of Labor.

9. If he's truly defining the nation's problems, then he most assuredly must have mentioned
George Bush and republican lap-dog congress we've had for the last 6 years

10. We need to vote him out of office come 2008
He doesn't have the American people as his top priority. He only loves money and power.

<snip>
Young people today do not know what it is like to have a Democratic majority in Congress, McConnell said.

Democrats would let current tax cuts expire, which would increase the tax burden on "the rich," which McConnell said is actually "anybody that's got a job."

"Congratulations to all of you -- you're going to get a tax increase," McConnell told the crowd of more than 100 people. "Not only is that bad for your family, that's bad for the economy."

A Democratic majority in the House would lead to the beginning of impeachment proceedings against President Bush, McConnell said. Democratic leadership in Congress would also mean "waving a white flag in the war on terror," McConnell said.

The policies and priorities of Democratic leaders and legislators are "scarier than anything you observed on your front porch" on Halloween, McConnell said.

"We just had Halloween last night and those people are truly scary," McConnell said. "So now is the time. The future of the country as we know it is at stake."
