Freeper logic: Current troubles due to failure to jail/execute the media
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 02:03 PM by troublemaker
The Republican world sure is is finely nuanced... the troops are "plenty smart" but apparently not so smart they should be allowed to read the newspaper.

re: The Military Times group editorial calling for Rummy's ouster:
"I'm telling you, if Gonzales or whoever had got off their asses and served the media and 'ex-experts' with sedition or treason charges from the beginning, we wouldn't have this problem."

"they (Military Times grp newspapers) should be banned from being sold on military bases."

1. Getting their talking points from McConnell:
McConnell: Iraq Problems Are The Media's Fault

A friend forwarded an e-mail from the Owensboro Rotary Club which highlighted last week's remarks by Senator McConnell (R). I found this passage most interesting, and disturbing:

"About Iraq the Senator said that if 24-hr. news service was available during the battle of Normandy, The President would likely have stripped Eisenhower of his stars and the operation would probably have failed."

Apparently, it's the media's fault, so says McConnell who also describes Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld as one of the nation's greatest Defense secretaries and President Bush (R) as one of the greatest presidents.

Scary and disturbing.

4. actually, if 24 hour news service had been available at Normandy...
people might have paused to wonder if the war was worth it, decided it was, and continued to support it.

That is why the Bushies hate the media (that they don't control). They can't afford that pause.

6. There is no comparison
between WWII and the travesty that's going on now imho. We knew who the enemy was in WWII, now we're the enemy (so thinks most of the world).

9. Not only did we know
who the enemy was, we knew exactly why we were there. Our pResident keeps explaining the objective to us, four years later, and the objective keeps changing.

13. that part is tricky--FDR was more honest than Bush by far but
the threat from Germany wasn't that they would invade us, but that the nazi success would make fascism look more attractive to those in the US, especially since some at the top already thought it was better than democracy.

11. & had B*sh been pResident then, it would have been the "Invasion of Cancun"
Why do these geniuses seem so completely unable
to grasp the simple fact that Iraq had NOTHING
to do with 9/11? Even B*sh has admitted it at
this point.

3. How about a "Mirrors for Freepers" effort ?
Kind of like the "Roses for Helen" deal.

We buy a pant load of small hand-held mirrors and write across the top "The Problem"... and them send them to all the freeps ?

Might be fun.

7. They've been in power for 6 years, and what ever has gone wrong during that time
is the fault of the media for reporting it. Fuck you damn freepers, take responcibility for a change and stop blaming the media and Clinton. It's you and your damn party the country is turning against because of what you stand for. Be men for a change and get over it!

8. everything is the media's fault!
Mark Foley? Americans shouldn't have known about him!

The nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons documents posted on the internets by Republicans? Damn media! Always pointing the finger at them!

Iraq war? Damn media! We need more "good news" stories!

Bush's approval rating? The media! He wouldn't be in a slump if the people did not know what he was doing! Or is it that he's not really in a slump, the media is just making it look worse.

I've tried to explain to local freeps that maybe the reason the media seems to be concentrating on the NeoCons so much is because they are fucking corrupt and breaking every law they can. And I had one actually try to say that his evidence for liberal bias was the number of jokes late-night comedians tell about Bush. right.

Isn't that the rwingnut claim of the left? That the left looks to blame others first?
