Needing no more GOTV calls, I'm taking the phone off the hook
until Tuesday, when, if jury duty is not interceding, I'll be here to answer calls for rides to the polls.

We've been getting several calls an hour all morning. For folks that aren't part of the connected- at-the-ear generation we've just had enough.

1. Yes. I hope all this calling doesn't backfire like it did on Dean in Iowa

4. I'm all for GOTV, don't get me wrong.
I'm working the town referendum to bring the troops home. So I've been calling and lit dropping myself in the past 2 weeks.

I just wish there was a way to put an I'm convinced feature on the phone :)

I think I've established my name on to way too many many call lists.

2. Have you had any Repuke GOTV calls?
I haven't, but maybe that's just because I'm not on their lists. I've probably had 25 calls from Dems in the past 4 days.

3. I just got a call from Ted Kennedy for my local rep
I thought that was interesting as I have never gotten a call from Kennedy for such a local race before. Good on them for helping each other.

7. Why not answer them and give support to the GOTV people. I mean
take it upon yourself to lift them from any funk. Say "my gosh you people are working hard, yes we will vote and have received numerous calls. Boy you are deserving a pat on the back. Have a great night you foot sholdier you..taking time away from your family for a great cause".

Turn the tables. Be there for them. Make it work for you (plus if they can't get you on the phone they will leave messages or try and call you back Let them cross you off their list).

9. Because the phone is a old fashioned land line in the kitchen
and the computer is in the basement. It may sound lame, but when you are lame that's a lot of trips up and down the stairs.

8. I just can't bring myself to call this year
I'm tired of bugging people, getting hung up on and other inanities. I just can't do it this year. Unfortunately my brother is running and I should be out knocking on doors.

10. We do what we're comfortable with. I gotta admit I enjoy
filling food boxes at Hunger Task Force more than making calls. I don't mind doing lit drops since it's mostly sticking flyers onto door knobs.

11. I've been getting plenty of calls myself
What I don't understand is why the dem headquarters computer is not connected to the candidates headquarters computer. It would be so easy to call and if getting a yes they are voting dem to put them on the called list, and distribute it to all the dem computers. You reach more voters, and have a more accurate count. And, someone doesn't get 20 calls in a day, while another person gets none.

This is something we should be working on for 2008.

12. I would like to know
what the Pukes GOTV looks like. Don't they call people?

OTOH. I've only had 1 call from a live person. When, I tried to get them to call my little town, I was told it wasn't worth it. So everyone is concentrating on the same area. I wish they could coordinate it so everyone is targeted not just the same area.

In the 30 years we've lived in the same house, noone from the local party has ever called me. I may have gotten involved a lot sooner if they had.
