Iraq, my friends, is the media's fault...
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 02:45 PM by originalpckelly
It is their fault those sixteen words appeared in the President's 2003 State of the Union.
It is their fault those mobile weapons laboratories turned out to be weather balloon launchers.
It is their fault Ansar-al-Islam operated in the Kurdish controlled north of Iraq without the approval of Saddam.
It is their fault for linking Saddam and 9/11.
It is their fault we threw away 10 years of refined battle plans.
It is their fault we did not put 500,000 troops in Iraq to secure the peace.
They made Donald Rumsfeld say he knew the Iraq WMD was "in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat."
They made Dick Cheney say "we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators."
They made Donald Rumsfeld deny the existence of the insurgency, all the while asking him about the rising violence in the early days of Iraq.
In fact they made him say, "I picked up a newspaper today and I couldn't believe it. I read eight headlines that talked about chaos, violence, unrest. And it just was Henny Penny -- "The sky is falling." I've never seen anything like it!"
They even made Dick Cheney say "I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency."
They made the President say, "stay the course," when they asked what his strategy was in Iraq.

Ladies and gentlemen, the case is clear, the American news media is to blame for our failure in Iraq, without one doubt whatsoever.

:sarcasm:

2. EVERYTHING is the "media's" fault...
historically, when a dictator moves in, the media markets- tv, radio, newspaper, town crier, etc... are the first thing they take control of.

this gang has been working on taking control of the media since raygun came to power, and they were able to abolish the fairness doctrine, for starters. and clinton was a complicit part of the plan when he signed the telecom act.

and you can be sure that if it looks like the internets are starting to get the unfiltered truth out in a significant and substantial way- it will be brought under control as well.

5. The mass media is always complicit, but it took the complete takeover
by the gang of six (GE, AOL/TW, Viacom, Disney, NewsCorp., and Liberty Media). Between them they own controlling interest of over 90% of all the media in this country.

Wonder why we don't get any real news?

7. Bush was drunk prior to the coup of 2000,
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 03:06 PM by Uncle Joe
He had no business getting behind the wheel of a Corvette and barreling 80mph down a school zone, the mass corporate media not only gave him the keys, they said we should all be comfortable in having another beer with him.

Now after running over god or goddess knows how many school children and crashing the Vette, the media are beginning to suggest ever so meekly "honey maybe you shouldn't be driving?" Bush is stammering "it's your fault if you hadn't been so concerned with putting your makeup on using the rearview mirror, this wouldn't have happened bitch!"

That pretty much sums up how we got here today.
