Has anybody seen any evidence of the Republican's 72-hour strategy?
It would have started this morning, right?

Just looking for reports on the ground whether anyone's seen a lot of activity - - or none.

Thanks.

2. I live in a predominantly
repuke county.

This morning, I worked at our Democratic party headquarters. There was a prominent repuke out on the corner handing out literature to everyone passing by. That is all I have seen.

We, on the other hand, are working, walking, calling and poll watching.

Maybe the repukes here are doing more, but I have not seen it.

We expect to gain some local and state seats here. Time will tell.

10. my phone's been ringing off the hook this morning -
all Democratic calls. Seems like there are fewer Republican signs up today than there were earlier in the week. A new bombshell about one of family values state reps fell last night - seems he doesn't pay his child support to his first wife... So that might explain some of the missing signs. :applause:

BTW, how do you pronounce the name of your county?

OH-gl (like the gl in gloria).

OH-gl county. This was Sauk Indian territory.

Menendez signs along many roads and highway ramps. The signs weren't there a couple of days ago. When I got home, there was a Menendez "doorknob hanger" on my front door. :-)

On edit: Forget to mention ... along with the Menendez signs, I saw LOTS of signs for other NJ Dem candidates. I did see some Kean, Jr. roadside signs, but none for any other state GOP candidates.

Allowing a majority of Americans to figure out that your party is run by hypocrites on a platform of double standards does not come without its consequences.

I think (I truly HOPE) that America has started to wake up from a long sleep and is steadfast in their decision to vote for change. But, equally important, is that we follow through and do everything to deliver that change once America allows us the opportunity. Nov.8th is just the beginning of a long road ahead, it isn't the finish line. We have an opportunity here to ensure that Republicans never win another major election if we deliver on our promises.

15. And they may end up driving their once loyal buffoons to the polls to vote in the "enemy"
From the link I posted above: Expect to hear lots in the news and on the Web during the next few days about the GOP’s “72-hour campaign,” the party’s hyper-organized, multimillion-dollar get-out-the-vote effort that uses mailing lists, consumer marketing information and high-tech data crunching to find Republicans and roust them to the polls. But with Democrats making their own effort, Republican turnout may not be enough to turn back the tide.

They may just end up "rousting" BushCo voters who have had enough.

If the Repubs are knocking on doors around here, I haven't seen em.

19. Canvassing Report...
Just came in from 5 hours on the streets and i'm about to head back for another couple hours. It's been a fun day. Unlike past elections where you would call someone last week and get their support and call back a week later and they completely forgot, this year I'm hearing a lot more "thank you for reminding me, I'll definitely be there on Tuesday".

Meanwhile I saw two lonely Repugnicans walking the neighborhood. All they were doing was hanging little reminders on door knobs...and then promoting the downticket races...State Senate and Representative...the local GOOP Congressional weasel...err candidate, was listed half way down the page. These goons are worried about losing the races they never did. It's the combination of what surely will be a depressed Repugnican turn-out and a lot of moderates and independents who are totally disgusted with the lies and corruption of the entire Repugnican party.

Tomorrow I'm headed to the 6th district for the big push there...working for Tammy Duckworth. There are some around here who will be headed to the 10th District to help in GOTV efforts for Dan Seals...who we really, really think will be a surprise victor on Wednesday.

A year ago when we had our first meetings to plan for the campaign never did we think that on the last weekend on the campaign, things were going so smoothly in this one red district that we could spare the time to help in adjacent districts and that our race would be relatively safe (we're definitely not closing up shop here), but that we were close to flipping one or two more red districts.

The feelings here are very optimistic...moreso than I saw in '04 and the reception from those we canvass is a lot friendlier, far more supportive and can't wait to vote on Tuesday. Hopefully later we'll get an indication of how the early voting and absentees are doing, but from last report on that front, both were surpassing what we had seen in '04.

Well...back to the beat. GOTV GOTV GOTV. Whatever 72 hour operation they're running here must be by the same people who show up at football games dressed as empty seats.

Cheers...

and came upon about 20 cars parked on this one street. At first I thought it was a garage sale but then I noticed all the people walking up to one house where someone was sitting outside at a desk, handing out papers of some sort. Then I noticed a lot of religious type bumper stickers (praying Calvins and "pray for our troops" type of thing) and it dawned on me. On the bright side, only one of them still had a Shrub sticker. =) I guess that's not something they want on their cars anymore. I think my leftover Halloween decorations may have kept them from visiting me but they were out in force. I was hoping they would stop by so I could tell them they were all going to hell for the lies they were telling about Dems but so far none have shown up.
