So I'm dating a fundie
I young lady asked me out about a month ago. She is a fundie born again. She is very compassionate.

Anyway, she told me that she usually votes straight right to life or republican (now that the rtl line is defunct in NYS). She told me that she wasn't voting this year cause she is out of town.

I convinced her to get an absentee ballot. I helped her through the process. She voted for all progressive candidates, including Kristen Gillibrand!

I think she likes me.:toast:

9. actually, her 13 year old fundie sister convinced her to vote against
Sweeney  My girlfriend said her little sister "didn't think Sweeney was a protector of the environment".

I haven't met the 13 year old sister yet.

exterior and kind words, she is still insane to the point of delusion.

5. My fundie friend is very nice
But a total fundie nuts. She votes for Bush, loves Bush, and believes in the rapture and all that crap.
But recently, there was a whammy... Despite Jesus and all that, her fundie hubby was a major jerk and so she decided to leave him... Hope she learns something from this.

14. Yup...
It wasn't easy... Actually, the funny thing is that she asked for advice at the fundie Church she was going to with her hubby. ANd the pastor said she would go to hell is she divorced. That's why she kept going for another year or so. Then, some other pastor told her that was not true, that she would not go to hell. Anyway, when she decided to divorce, she was kicked out of the church cold, they called her whore and whatnot.
Jeebus, these people are so fucked up.

6. Tell her how lucky she is to live where she has a CHOICE ...
... and doesn't live under a government that could FORCE HER TO HAVE AN ABORTION if the fetus wasn't "satisfactory"!

That is, after all, what surrendering jurisdiction over reproductive rights would mean.

Any government that could assert its own sovereignty over a woman's womb would have that power.

25. That's the line I use with my R-W relatives. Any government that can
forbid an abortion also has the power to require an abortion. Like it is said they do in China.

It is not a right that government should have.

I'm not sure I've convinced them yet, but I've made them think.

12. Hahaha! You go girl! There's a lesson to be learned there.
The way to the truth isn't always forcing them to accept what is right, but rather just loving them for who they are until they come to the truth on their own. Good people always do. You got yourself a good one. ;)

18. My ex was a Black Republican before he met me.
One of our chief pastimes was lively (and sometimes heated) political discussions. The basis for his political stance came from being a corporate drone for many years. He worked for a huge Corp. that used not-so-subtle indoctrination on how to vote with their employees. (I knew of one employee who voted the Repub ticket for fear the Corp. would find him out if he voted otherwise). Dumb eh? But true.
Anyway, our mutual interest in discussing politics, sometimes far into the night, paid off. After realizing that the Democratic party had been responsible for the betterment of the country, hubby changed his loyalties away from the Repub party and has voted wisely from then on. I am proud that I was partly responsible for educating a man who had a blind eye to political reality.

16. Way to go! Love is a lot more persuasive than arguing.
I have found a lot of Republicans very open to arguments, if I approach them in a non-argumentative manner. It's amazing what effect listening and having respect for someone you disagree with can have in an argument. Politics is ultimately what it is. Just politics. But love, ah man. That's the stuff that has inspired everything of value in this world.

Enjoy the ride, my friend. I'm glad you found a partner to share it with.

17. Hold on -- let's go back to the beginning -- it's not proper for a
female fundie to ask a man out on a date! What R U kidding me? U should have known she wasn't a true fundie. True fundies do not ask men out on dates. They wait to be asked. You are bein scammed big time!!
