Yes..Yes..Yes..I KNOW where the Video forum is and I frankly do not want to have to wade thru
200 posts about some video that was made 30 years ago by a burned out rock or whatever, kind of music Band.

The front page is starting to look like the Reject pile of Netflix....

Since the advent of youtube, my internet has narrowed somewhat. I'm not a tv watcher. Yes, I have one, and yes, I sometimes turn it on, but I don't like video format. I prefer a book, where I decide what things and people look and sound like myself, and I decide when I need a "break." Or a newspaper that I can scan and glean needed information from without being a captive audience. I'm an impatient audience, not liking my attention limited to the screen so as not to miss things that I can't reread later, and having to wait through all of the breaks. The same with streaming video. I don't like to wait for it to download, wait for it to play, sit and watch without being able to move my attention without missing something. I can scan text, easily picking up the gist and determining whether it warrants more of my time and attention so much faster.

I just won't wade through all the video to find the one that was really worth my time. I'm the bitching, "Can't you just tell me?" I'd rather have the words than the pictures. So I miss quite a bit online these days.

I can avoid all responsibilities curled up with a book for hours on end. It's not a short attention span, but a picky one. ;)

I wholly agree with what you say. I read 4 newspapers at one sitting, digesting
the editorial choice as part of the news, visually, adverts, corporate keretsu and all,
whereas the visual streaming medium bores me to tears.

But in this lecture, he refers to this 1/4th of americans that take in no
news message at all... and this 1/4th's votes are determined by the
political TV commercials. .. the intellectual lazyness of the medium,
and the pervasive takeover of sound/visual stimuli for passive intake
by an unenlightened teacher, always a question with TV.

I much prefer radio 4 BBC world, or something audio that does not
take over my ability round/robin and discriminate in choice of food. :-)

It takes 20 seconds to load 3 seconds of video. The worst are the posts which give no synopsis of what the video is about.

It would be nice to have a sentence or two as to what the video is about for those of us who are unable to view it. Otherwise it is just a tease. I don't ever look at the video forum, but I am happy for those who can enjoy it.
