1. I Think The Neocons Have Tenuous Control At The Pentagon
I think that the top-echelon military telegraphed, several months ago via retired Generals, that they knew that The Smirk et al wanted to nuke Iran, and that the military might simply not do it. At this point, I suspect that The Smirk doesn't want to go toe to toe with the military - he might lose.

2. It Was All Hype And Hysteria, My Friend
It is to be hoped those who promoted it, and fell for it, will have learned something from the experience....

6. Precisely the same as the "Martial Law/Draft" predictions
that were made, in an air of absolute certainty, around the 2004 election. Nothing happened.

But I think some people never learn.

8. I think there were a lot of facts backing up those suspicions
The whole PNAC set of goals is well known, and it includes controlling Iran. And people who have made accurate predictions on other things were predicting this event.

If Bush retains any sort of power, you better believe he will do it. But he can't right now because it would set the whole world's economy rolling like a bowl of jello.

I believe the Saudis are currently trying to double their potential output of oil, with an estimated time of completion in a year or two. If they go online with that doubled capacity, then the invasion of Iran will happen (with great Saudi support).

9. Not Really, Sir
If the facts actually supported what it was claimed they did, the thing would have occured. Most of what was claimed as fact supporting the predictions were not actually facts, but various speculations and misunderstandings of military procedures.

What is a fact is that some people find enjoyment in scaring themselves, and anticipating the worst disasters they can imagine befalling them. A sizeable segment of the entertainment industry caters to this taste, but clearly some degree of demand for the experience goes unmet, and sloshes over into political commentary....
