14. Expected to start at 0700 GMT (10am Baghdad time).
Edited on Sun Nov-05-06 01:35 AM by TahitiNut
Chief judge Raouf Abdul Rahman, an ethnic Kurd, was expected to summon the court to order from around 10 a.m. (0700 GMT) and spend several hours delivering a summary of the verdicts and sentences for Saddam and seven others accused of crimes against humanity, though court officials do not rule out a postponement.

I expect the Sunday talk shows to cover it. (Like it matters.)

8. ^ Truth
Guilty - Sunnis go berserk claiming it a US-orchestrated phony trial with a preset verdict.

Not Guilty - Shiites go berserk declaring, in so many words, "no justice, no peace".

All conveniently in time for Tuesday. Everyone, grab a helmet.

9. I am sure Rove arranged for it to be Sunday
Just goes to show how stupid Rove really is. Everything he touches lately has the opposite effect to what he expected.

6. well, no "frenzy," but some concern, such as this:
World awaiting Saddam trial verdict
05/11/06

The eyes of the world are on Iraq as the country's fledgling justice system prepares to deliver its verdict on Saddam Hussein.

The deposed dictator's first trial is due to reach a dramatic conclusion in Baghdad's high-security Green Zone, with bloodshed likely whatever the result.

There has already been an upsurge in violence, with more than 80 bodies - many showing signs of torture - having been discovered in the capital alone, over the past few days.

7. Baghdad and some other cities are locked down, curfews...
no people allowed outside their homes. Whichever way it goes, it's going to piss off a lot of Iraqis.

16. I sure hope that doesn't happen
but what I saw on the news this a.m. was Iraqi people cheering at the death sentence. Let's face it, other than his supporters, no one liked him in Iraq. I can imagine the relief that relatives of his victims feel.

13. Ummm, where is bin Laden?
It is really nice of us to capture Saddam so the Shiites can have their day of justice.
When are the 9/11 families going to get their day of justice?

20. F*ck Bush!
Edited on Sun Nov-05-06 02:46 PM by Dangerman
Bush is worse than Saddam. Do not forget. Clinton was about to smooth relations with Saddam in his early years in office. It is the Repugs who force him to change his mind.

Oh BTW, Saddam did not cause the devastating economic sanctions that killed thousands of innocent children, he was not responsible for U.S bombing the country before the Iraq War, and he is an angel compared to far worse dictators like the African rulers.

And Saddam at least give his people electricity and drinking water, he was some thread of humanity in him, whether you like it or not.

Bush is the real bastard. Remember that.
