The people are 'MAD AS HELL and they are not taking it anymore' |
|
That is of course, if the apparent groundswell is real.
The "Stay the Course" Ad effectively showed B*** lying. One of the most effective DEM ads I've ever seen.
Feel free to post comments as to why and when the tide turned. I will start by saying that Katrina was the turning point, and only because Rove couldn't keep a finger on the live reports of our government letting Americans drown.
I'll add one more. That there are more than a few veteran and current CIA folk very pissed off about the outing of Plame and Brewster Jennings. Folks with very long tentacles.
Discuss.

1. Oh there are so many tings |
|
depends on the person truly. but for many Katrina was a wake up moment and history will mark it that way
Another... when we lost 2,000 troops, how callous the WH was

4. true, there are many reasons depending on the individual..... |
|
....for some it began with Schiavo, people objected to the govt meddling in the personal lives of private citizens. For many people, it was Katrina.....we all watched as the govt basically did NOTHING for days!! For some it was high gas prices. And eventually, it became the war. Over time, I think it became likely that the war may touch their own families in personal ways..........as in my kid have to fight in the war if things keep going like this.
And of course, we have the gay republican scandals and I'm sure that hasn't helped anything.......especially with their base!

6. I've been dying to give props to Cindy Sheehan too |
|
her protest + Katrina was the double punch that I think set up everything that we're seeing now.

10. oh, it's real all right . . . very, very real -- and very vehement . . . |
|
virtually everyone I have spoken with about this election -- Democrats, Republicans, Independents, old, young, white, black, Christians, Jews, Muslims -- has said something to the effect that "the Republicans must go!" or "we have to elect Democrats!" . . .
not only are people pissed about the war and about Bush's lies and incompetance, they're also very concerned -- about the rise of fascism, the loss of freedom, the economy and the deficit, the environment, and much much more . . . very, VERY concerned . . .
the REAL vote count on Tuesday will be a Democratic landslide of historic proportions . . .
the REPORTED vote count on Tuesday will, in many races, be something else altogether . . .
but the margins and the turnout should be large enough to negate whatever election fraud they perpetrate enough for us to take at least the House, and probably the Senate as well . . . if neither of these happen, it won't be because the American people voted that way . . .
