Saddam Found Guilty And Sentenced To Death |
|
I endorse the verdict. It was expected. I do find it curious that a trial that took months to conduct concludes with a guilty verdict two days before the American election.

Saddam can burn in hell for all I care, but a kangaroo court is a kangaroo court.

11. There is an international system established |
|
for exactly this sort of situation. Saddam should have been charged in the international courts with crimes against humanity and tried outside of Iraq. We deliberately chose not to do this and as a consequence another crime has been committed: the ludicrous trial of Saddam Hussein.

This is the subtext to today's verdict.

8. I doubt many Iraqis will care. |
|
The insurgents will carry on as usual; any Baathist sympathy they once had has probably been drowned out by Islamic revolutionary hype by now.

12. No Saddam will be used as a symbol of oppression |

by our occupying army. Iraq is already under a lockdown. The violence will, unbelievably, get even worse.

9. Another thought. The timing of this verdict is supposed to supplant |

the question of "where's Osama?" as well. I mean, after all, Osama...Saddam...they are one and the same.
