TIME: Evangelicals Stay Home Nov. 7. Bush Media "Teardown" Not Over Yet
Is the mainstream media faction charged with the Bush TEARDOWN done yet? I don't think so.

Look at TIME Magazine:

Why the Haggard Scandal Could Hurt Evangelical Turnout:

David Kuo says the Ted Haggard scandal and its fallout
shows why, as he makes clear in his bestselling book, it is
so dangerous to mix faith and politics

By Nathan Thornburgh

Posted Saturday, Nov. 04, 2006
David Kuo, the former number two at the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives in the first Bush White House, is camped out on the NYT bestsellers list with his book, Tempting Faith, about the dangers of mixing politics and evangelicals. He says he met Ted Haggard only a few times, but says that the episode has saddened him nonetheless, especially the headline-grabbing fallout of Haggard's admissions.

"At the end of the day, this comes down to bringing Jesus into politics," he says. "Right now, it's not Ted Haggard on trial. It's Jesus. This is about the God he represents. When you make yourself a public figure and you fall, you bring the perception of your God with you."

Is this an unmistakable message: YOU'RE NEXT?

Politically, Kuo sees a potential to reduce the evangelical vote on Tuesday. "I think the significance of the Haggard thing is this building case against evangelical involvement in politics. Christians are smart," he says. "They can see what influence politics is having."

1. K&R Oh my! What a wonderful sight! Those hypocrites deserve to fall as
well as the political hacks who have been using false piety to advance wicked political agendas.

2. None of the Pub preachers felt sorry for us when they backed Bush...
Edited on Sun Nov-05-06 08:15 AM by Hubert Flottz
All they felt was greed and they wanted more power for themselves. It was ALL about THEM, not about God! "My church is bigger than your church!" They sold their souls to the neocon Devil Karl!

11. Great points.
I can't even imagine the type of mind that can contain these two processes:

O8)
1) "I'm the leader of an association of 30 million evangelicals and a 15,000 member church where people rely on me for spiritual guidance."

2) "I'm headed for denver to do some meth and have sex with a male body builder."

Now that's a "big" mind isn't it. Few could carry those two functions and avoid having their head
explode.

Wow!

and great music reference... I hadn't seen a picture of the accuser. Somehow, in my cynical mind... I could weave the only Jones I could think of and make it make a wee bit of rational sense.

13. Jones is Haggard's body builder guy pal and...
...and by Haggards report fellow tweeker (meth) and masseuse. Others claim that there's more than massage going on when the two get together...one of those others is Jones who said that they had a sexual relationship for two yers, which also involved meth.

Strange stuff...Haggerd heads the largest church around, 15k members and a 30 million evanglical association. What a guy.

14. Right, Moon's Capitol Hill festivities...
I remember when that guy came to NYC in the 70's. He wasn't there long before there were "accidents" at his downtown headquarters...people falling down elevator shafts.

It sounds like Haggard was freely participating and according to his story he just took meth with the guy and got some massages. Can you imagine...wait...don't imagine.

Strange times.

8. Kuo Did A Great Interview With Charlie Rose
Many of the Evangelicals are beginning to rethink the politicizing of their religion. It's all good for us. Sanity may revisit this country some time in the next 2 years.

19. I believe the same - - they lived by the sword and now........
I'm so glad the USERS are being exposed. My mother used to be one of those manipulated old ladies who would show up and pray on her knees in front of Clinton's WH.

I loathed them for manipulating her into that bunker mentality that ruled her for the last 20 years of her llife.

16. Great term - it's ill catch on "Talibornagains.." !!!
You're right. The "Good News" is pretty clear and, if you're like Thomas Jefferson, you put together a personal version from the 4 Gospels and have an elegant and powerful way of living. Meth and kinky sex are not part of the program. Jesus would forgive the preacher but might go into the preacher's temple and cast out the money grubbers.

Check out this video, brief, with Haggard and Richard Dawkins

Amazing...reminded me of Jim Jones talking to that delegation of the Congressman (Ryan) and others then having them shot as they left. Just amazing...

17. Amazing Video of Rev. Haggard with/Richard Dawkins (short version)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmNjfpoRZpE&eurl=

You will not be disappointed.

After you see the end of this clip, recall what happened to Cong. Ryan and other officials after they met with Jim Jones in Guyana (at "Jonestown"). Chilling.

18. I remember what happened to Congressman Ryan.
Gawd. How horrible.

"Talibornagain" is a term invented either by someone else on DU, or they heard it elsewhere and brought it here. I think it's the perfect label for those phony Bible-thumping blowhards.
