How Rove Blew It On the 72-Hour GOTV - He Only Focused on The Base, NOT the Indies
Let me repeat that: Rove Blew It On the 72-Hour GOTV - He Only Focused on The Base, NOT the Indies

That's really what happened, said Rothenberg and Chuck Todd last night on Russert. Meanwhile Dr. Dean's strategy got to Independents in all 50 states especially the targeted CDs.

Rove never went politicked or tried to turn out the middle. Their whole database is on the Base! That's why they could be so rightwingnutjob in their policy. As long as the Indie vote was split 50-50, Rove just ignore the middle!

This will be key on Tuesday and actually puts the GOP behind the eightball for the '08 race.

Their reknowned 72 hour Database and GOTV will not win it for them this year and will win even less in 2 years.

WE now have the electoral GOTV advantage and machinery, not the GOP.

And when you look at the Millennial Generation (born between 1982 and 2002) coming in at a clip of 15 million more every 4 years and they are 2-to-1 Democrat right now, Mr. Rove has screwed his own party for, oh, about a generation...

Now we need a solid 50-state micro-targeted database on not only our own base but also the Indies and the moderate Repubs and evangelicals.

The '08 election will be won with micro-targeted databases--and ours will beat theirs from Tuesday onwards.

Dr. Dean made an excellent diagnosis and operation. The patient is going to live!

The Indies are going to be voting Dem in hugh111 numbers this time, so early voting is indicating.

8. Do you have a link for that?
I'm not doubting you, but I thought that releasing voting results before an election was illegal.

12. Posted here a day or two ago.
Concerning MT-Sen race.

It's not illegal to do exit polling, BTW.

4. The base is all they've got left.
And a good chunk of them are not very enthused right now.

5. Agree...the GOP/Fundie faithful can only do so much in the end
The GOP GOTV machine works well with a fired up base but the GOP base is anything but that this year. Fiscal conservatives, some fundies, and those disgusted with the war are not enthused.

The DEMS, organized or not by GOTV, have anti-Bush, anti-Iraq enthusiasm to vote and will turn out in better numbers generally.

The INDS seem to be breaking strongly against incumbents much as they did in 1994 but their turnout numbers may be so-so in an off year election.

This should help bring it home for us in MT, VA, MO but TN may be out of reach. AZ may surprise if the undecideds break 2-1 or better for Pederson. That would be cake.

6. as we saw, once the independents decide on a party they vote it three
or four election cycles before even considering switching, even with the wort of news, hence 2000 and they voted in 2002 and 2004, knowing how bad bush was...... yet 2006 voting dems, we have at least until 2010 for their vote. the first time isalways the hardest andthen gets easier and easier

9. If we take back the Senate, it may well be thanks to MJ Fox, who
IMO would most motivate independents to jump off the fence and turn out to vote for Democrats. IMO the first thing Democrats ought to do after Pelosi's 100 hour agenda goes through is attach a repeal of Ayatollah Bush's embryonic stem cell research ban to every piece of legislation until it passes and Dubya fails to veto it.

10. The base is cracked and crumbling
they've been forced to attempt to fire up a base that should have been automatic, even with a secure foundation I still think they would have fallen short. The way it is though with a weak and demoralized funie base herr kkkarl is phucked. Anyone still thing this piece of shit is a genius?
