COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (CNN) -- Evangelical pastor Ted Haggard confessed on Sunday to a "lifelong" sexual problem, and said he was "a deceiver and a liar," in a letter read to his New Life Church.

"There is part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I have been warring against it all my life," he said in the letter.

Haggard apologized to his congregation and asked for their forgiveness in the letter read by pastor Larry Stockstill, a member of the board of overseers of New Life Church.

On Saturday, the board ousted Haggard from the 14,000-member church, which he founded more than 20 years ago, citing his "sexually immoral conduct."

n the letter read Sunday, Haggard took responsibility for his actions, saying "I am guilty of sexual immorality" and noted that "the things I did opened the door for additional allegations."

He asked the congregation to also forgive his accuser, who Haggard said has revealed "the deception ... that was in my life."

and their clients from STI's, *unless* it's a sex-for-drugs exchange or a survival sex exchange (housing, food, protection, etc.), then things tend to get snarky. Let me take this opportunity to educate yet another ill-informed DUer about the difference between HIV and AIDS.

An AIDS diagnosis happens when one or more of the following occurs:

1) CD4 cells/T-cells drop below 200

OR

2) CD4% drops below 14%

OR

3) One or more Opportunistic Infections occur (OIs)

And why does an HIV infected person get and AIDS diagnosis??

For 1) Tracking and 2) Benefits.

An AIDS diagnosis doesn't mean that someone is going to die. I wish people would get a grip when it comes to HIV/AIDS.

There is a gay ORU alumni association which, of course, is not officially affiliated with the university. They made local news a couple of years back when they tried to rally at the university during homecoming. The university objected and had tem removed as I recall.

In the early to mid 80's or so ORU amended its code of conduct to specifically prohibit homosexual activity. At the time I knew a couple of gay students who always double dated a couple of lesbian students. By doing so, they never arroused suspicions on campus regarding their sexual orientation.

I assume the university still takes a very hard line position on homosexual activity. I knew a kid who was kicked out of school 3 hours short of earning his degree because he was caught in the act in his dorm room. He stuck around town for a little while. A few months later a friend of mine went to visit him and found him near death from a suicide attempt. He recovered physically and relocated elsewhere. I've often wondered what happened to him.

Haggard was a 1978 graduate of Oral Roberts University.
