I must admit, John at Americablog has a point.

Some advice for Ted Haggard's New Life Church
by John in DC - 11/05/2006 12:31:00 PM

And I'm not being catty. I'm simply tired of the upper echelons of the gay-hating religious right being filled with obviously gay men. One lead religious right group has a penchant for hiring flaming men as its leader, two of the top religious right anti-gay spokesmen are equally flaming, and then there's Haggard's New Life Church. Check out the http://www.toiletpaperonline.typepad.com/the_blog/2006/03/a_camel_through.html">top staff of the church and try to find the guy who looks straight.

I'm serious. I've had it with the religious right homophobes and their clearly gay leaders. Somebody at New Life Church needs to find out if Haggard was involved in hiring the senior staff, because I've got news for you, I'd be very surprised if many of them were straight.

1. I can understand gay Republicans to a point
but as a gay Christian, who overslept for church this morning, I don't understand these right wing gay Christians, or those who profess to be Christians but who are willing to sell themselves for 30 pieces of silver

people like Haggard will have to answer to God when their day comes

2. "If a man says, 'I love God', yet he hates his brother, that man is a liar."
That's a whole SERMON right there...so now you don't
have to feel bad about oversleeping! :toast:

5. He understands
Even Dad needs a day of rest Himself. And I slept through an entire weekend once. A very deep sleep, if you remember.

3. Rob Brendle's an obvious homosexual.
(Disclaimer: There is NOTHING anti-gay about this. These men aren't even GAY, they're closeted homosexuals, which is different. As a gay man I'm offended by these types and they deserve whatever they get!)

I saw him on TV talking about how great "Pastor Ted" is and he is his mentor of ten years. I immediately wondered how Ted "mentored" this flamer.

Maybe I'll try my own hand at outing. There's a GOP state assembly staff member who's a semi-closet case who works his way through men at the gay bars while abetting a gay-hater during the day. Sickening.

6. Just a bunch of people making money off of the Lord.
Instead of going out and getting a job and competing on skills like the rest of us.

I REALLY don't understand people, ESPECIALLY the successors of Martin Luther, who trust the fate of their souls to ANYONE else.

Imagine:
Oh what shall I be when I grow up? Oh how about a job in which everyone defers to me, and I don't have to run for office, just put a couple of letters after my name and I am accepted by all, where I wear nice clothes and never get dirty, never have to work the swing shift, or over-time, don't have to pay taxes, people invite me to all of their social occasions and give me gifts, children are told to obey me, people give me money for whatever I tell them "we need", everyone asks my advice and I get to tell them what to do . . . .

Do you think it is possible that factors like these influence the decisions of many to go into the minstry? Many WHO HAVE NO BUSINESS telling others who or what they are supposed to be?

11. This is a prayer for teddy from the prayer line.
"Prayers for Ted Haggert and the New Life Church. Hope that Pastor will be proved innocent of the gay sex charges and for relief for his family and the members of New Life Church. God be with them at this difficult time.
- nancy -- ca, United States of America"

I wonder why they didn't pray for Bill Clinton, and for God to be with his family "at that difficult time"??? What a bunch of hypocrites!!!

12. Here is another prayer request for teddy
"Prayers for Pastor Ted and the Christian community in general. I pray that we rally behind our brother in his time of need and show the world Gods love in our actions. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, not just some.
- Phil -- Colorado, United States of America"
