The MSNBC/McClatchy poll is generating all of the wishful talk of a republican surge
Edited on Sun Nov-05-06 02:39 PM by bigtree

The media throws a few polls favorable to them in the mix when they describe a republican turnaround. I don't think anything has changed at all in the equation that has our party far ahead in the generic question of which party voters prefer.

These midterm elections are usually attended by folks voting against someone or something. Those are the voters who will be compelled to show up. Bush has completely nationalized the election to the point where almost every vote is a referendum on his presidency and on the war in Iraq. In that equation, there are bound to be more voters registering Democrat who show up on Tuesday.

So, one set of polls . . .

1. It probably has tightened a little bit, but I doubt some of those numbers
based on what I have seen and heard.

2. The media just likes a horserace to keep up the ratings

So they tell their pollster to give them those results when they go out into the field.

And the McClatchy polls are not that good for Republicans either.
