"The Theocons" is Damon Linker's examination of what he calls the theoconservative movement. The author, former editor of the theoconservative journal First Things, defines theoconservatives as Catholic intellectuals who support the end of secular politics. Mr. Linker concludes that the movement is dangerous to American democracy. This event was hosted by Barnes & Noble Booksellers in New York City.

Damon Linker worked under Richard John Neuhaus at First Things from May 2001 to February 2005, first as associate editor of the journal, then as its editor. His essays and reviews have appeared in the New Republic, the Wall Street Journal, Commentary, National Review, the Weekly Standard, Policy Review, the Public Interest, the Review of Politics, the Review of Metaphysics, and the American Behavioral Scientist. Mr. Linker has also served as a speechwriter for New York’s Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.
