Dealing with 'difficult guests'...Focus on the 'Family' is hiring
Can you drag 200 pounds for 50 feet horizontally in 20 seconds? Wear a ballistic vest for a full workday? Maintain a storehouse of weapons? Train others how to use their firearms? Investigate your co-workers? Assist HR when they are firing employees? Provide a "sympathetic ear" to distraught visitors while enforcing security? Subdue irate and irrational people without injury to yourself or others? Help get rid of explosive devices at the workplace?

If so, Focus on the Family has a job for you. But only if, while filling in as one bad mofo, you are also a consistent witness to Jesus Christ who "models a high degree of integrity, ethics, compassion and morals based on Biblical standards."

~snip~

The salary is only $34,080 a year. But one of the job perks — initially advertised at the ministry's Web site, but then mysteriously removed after this reporter made an inquiry — is to serve as the "liaison" between Focus on the Family and the Air Force Academy, which has invited ministry officials to shoot at its tax-funded rifle range for at least six years.

It's one thing to need security, but using the Air Force(and our tax dollars built that place) to train their militia, seems to be strectching the separations of church and state.

And why is the damn salary so 'low'? Don't these idiots realize they need to pay for loyalty...case in point;
Haggard.

I also suspect they would want $3400 to find it's way back into the basket every year.

I can't wait for the Indy to come out next week, they are no friends of the Mega-Churches, and there are rumors that Haggard isn't the only one.

peace

1. A QUESTION for anyone who thinks the phrase "Christian Taliban" is a joke:

Why does "Focus on the Family" have a STOREHOUSE (THEIR word, not mine) of WEAPONS?

SNIP>
Air Force Academy spokesman 1st Lt. John Ross says
plenty of government agencies use its rifle range —
including the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI, IRS,
Department of the Treasury and the Colorado State Patrol.
But Focus on the Family is the only private organization with clearance.
Two security personnel from the ministry, Ross maintains,
currently use the neighboring Academy facility.

"They're one of the few churches that requires armed guards," he notes.

END SNIP

You know, LOTS of private Orgs NEED armed guards...so they HIRE them
from reputable, licensed 'guard' services.
Sounds more like F on the F is ARMING and TRAINING 'true believers'
than simply 'hiring guards', IMHO.

2. Focus on your own damned family
and leave MINE alone.

A mother who fully supports both her children; gay and straight.

PS. Dr. Dobson, No, I would not CHANGE my lesbian daughter, even if I could.

I DETEST you people.

3. Wow! you actually read the article!
I didn't post all of it, as there are some rules....

I didn't mean for this to be a "Bash the Focus" thread, just to point out some of the local issues here in Colorado, and the obvious misuse of Air Force Academy resources, to train focus militia.

I once broke down in my '73 VW Bus, and pulled off the freeway into the Focus lot. I was under the Bus for twenty minutes, when the first "Focus Cop" showed up. He said, "You have until the tow truck arrives to get that out of here". I must admit, oil was leaking all over the damn asphalt, and after a quick valve adjustment, I was on my way.
