surprised if she is not the g.o.p.'s "Hail, Mary" candidate. Certain things are now etched in stone for the rethuglicans. One: they will lose control of the House. Two: Very good chance the 'thugs will also lose the Senate. Not by much, but they will lose the majority status. Three: There is significant anger with the citizens at large, and also even more important, the anger in the Military who also feel betrayed on several levels. Four: The g.o.p. is doomed to another "wandering in the desert" period unless they come up with something fantastic to mitigate the bush* damage to the rethuglican party. And finally, Five: Things do not get better for bush* and bushco*. They get much worse. In a moment of supreme universal irony, we have the Neocon godfathers doing a hatchet job on bushco* in the pages of Vanity Fair. Which, incidentally has been one of the members of the American main-stream media that DID NOT give bush* and bushco* a free pass. Their investigative reporting on all things bush* has been top notch.

There were those in the rethuglican high command that were not happy with the choice of g.w. bush* as the new quarterback of team g.o.p. and the ordained heir of ronnie the raygun. Some believed he just didn't have the stones for the job. But the BFEE and the Texas Petroleum Mafia had laid down the law. They had bought and paid for this shot at 1600, and they were going to put in their man at the top slot. Kind of like buying a director's seat on a corporate board.

And you get what you pay for. Without having to elaborate, bushco* has been an astounding failure, exceeding anyone's fears. The recriminations and repercussions will go on for years. If the g.o.p. does not go for that unforeseen "Hail, Mary" pass in 2008--and nail it--it will be the Congressional minority part for years to come. And let's call a spade, when the g.o.p. got their opportunity in 1994, they blew it. They made a contract with America and wiped their ass on it. Once in power, the 'thuglicans realized everyone's worst fears as braggarts and bullies. Defying years of protocol and statesmanship, the g.o.p. acted as pirates in for the plunder. No, for the g.o.p. to survive the next twenty years, they have to show quick, fast and in a hurry that they are not bush* rethuglicans, but something more compassionately conservative. I look to the g.o.p. to put the next woman on the Presidential ticket. Probably as Vice. The 'thugs are going to need a woman to try and mitigate the damage bushco* has done to the moderates, centrists AND women in the rethuglican party. Liddy is first in line.
