Simpsons Treehouse Of Horrors: "The Day The Earth Looked Stupid"
Edited on Sun Nov-05-06 08:30 PM by Hissyspit
I believe it has strong political implications...

Orson Welles "War Of The Worlds" take-off - Three years after the Martians invade: "You said we'd be greeted as liberators!"

"We had to invade, they were working on weapons of mass desintegration."

Ended without a final joke. Just a scene of a devestated Springfield.

6. That means they cut the final line
I saw that the final line was intended to be "Well, at least its better than Iraq."

It seemed as if a lot of the fun had gone out of the entire show
compared to other years. The final scene was just stunning. It was a very heavy comment on a serious subject from people who are usually pretty funny. I guess not even the Simpson's crew could make a joke out of current events.

On a related topic, I think one of the most poignant World Trade Center memorials was the episode of the Simpson's in which Homer goes to NYC to retrieve his stolen car only to find that it is has been parked illegally at the World Trade Center. The episode was made years before 9/11, but it reminds me so much of how easy life was before 9/11 and Bush.
