Drinking Liberally

Anyone here on DU been to a chapter meeting for Drinking Liberally? Impressions?
I was thinking that it would be nice to coax some local liberal leaners to our new Irish Pub in Carroll County, MD. , Republican bastion. The other chapters are an hour's drive away.

2. I have been

There is 30 min away in Ames, IA. It wasn't what I expected, but fun nonetheless. I thought it would be just a social time where you could talk to people about politics. They had more of an agenda, where they discussed one set topic and then had time for people to bring things up. The people that did it, seemed to enjoy it.

I started one in my town and we meet once a month and it is just a time to get together and talk. The one in Iowa City is more infomal like this too.

I think you can do pretty much anything you want. The idea is to get people together to talk politics without pressuring them to donate $ or their time to make phone calls or go canvassing.

4. I went to the one in my city once

I had a great time and I managed to convince two other DUers in town to come along. I want to do it more often, but it's on a Tuesday here which is almost always one of the busiest days of the week for me.

you don't have to drink to join DL...we have a great time in my really red area.check it out..

Setting up a chapter is easy -- just decide when and where, and send the national group an e-mail; they'll set up a phone call with you to fill you in.
