Anyone watching the show about Choice point on CNBC right now?
Talking about all the data mining companies and other private employers (and the VA issues) about all the security breaches and identity theft.

Interesting stuff they are covering on this show.

1. they are showing how Choice Point was wrong and how
they are causing problems for people with incorrect reports. One woman was talking about not getting a job because they said she had a criminal record but she knew she didn't. She went to the court, investigated it on her own and it took 4 months to get it corrected. In that time, she had to go on welfare and food stamps to support her family. She was clearly demoralized by the experience. Choice Point spokeswoman said that she should have disputed it with them instead of investigating herself. Cold and callous response by Choice Point.

This show is about "Big Brother". I tuned in late, just as they were covering Choice Point, but it appears they will be covering other data mining uses as well.

Oh, and there was an FBI agent that said they use these agencies because the law doesn't allow them to compile the info themselves. ::::wink wink::::

They are covering Acxiom now, talking about them collecting public document info as well as your spending records.

2. I have this conspiracy theory
that Choicepoint & other data mining companies are part of why the GOP's "Get out the vote" efforts are so successful. They've got tons of information on every American, and are in bed w/the Bush Administration.

4. They just said that after 9/11 the government subpoenaed the
databases from Acxiom and Cheney was involved in that investigation!

8. All these companies
share the same nexus, and they're all involved in the same projects - no-fly lists, felon registries, etc. IMO, they're basically outsourced NSA's, contracted for the Bush Administration to obtain files they have no legal right to obtain directly. If you start researching this stuff, it's really quite frightening. Whatever info Axciom, Choicepoint, or Dyncorp have, the Bush Adminstration has too.

7. Now they are covering search engine searches and how they
can be used against you in court. They will be using an AOL search as an example, according to the teaser before the commercial.
