Gallup: Dems' lead slightly smaller but still strong and historical
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2006-11-05-national-poll_x.htm

WASHINGTON — A national USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds remarkable parallels between the congressional elections Tuesday and the watershed elections in 1994 that swept Republicans into control of the House and Senate.
•Then, likely voters by 51%-44% favored Republican congressional candidates. Now, voters by 51%-44% favor Democratic ones.

•Then, 52% said they were paying "quite a lot" of attention to the elections, the highest since the Gallup Poll began asking the question in 1958. Now, 50% say they are paying "quite a lot" of attention, the second-highest.

•Then, disapproval of Congress was at 66%. Now, disapproval of Congress is at 70%.

Even so, by 40%-33%, likely voters in the USA TODAY poll say the country would be better off if Democrats, not Republicans, controlled Congress.

Enthusiasm about voting is high: 58% say they are more enthusiastic than usual about voting and 68% say they are "absolutely certain" to vote — both records.

One reason: Both parties have been in touch. Among likely voters, 15% had been contacted by someone urging them to vote for a Republican, and 15% had been contacted by someone urging a Democratic vote. What's more, 27% had been contacted by both sides.

and the Repubs will miraculously squeak through more wins than expected. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!

8. Tweety's Sunday show last week.
One of his guests said he was leaving the RNC after the election to work on Guiliani's campaign. I'm sorry, I can't remember the name.

3. You have no idea how much I appreciate this thread.
All the doomsday threads are depressing as hell. Finally an upbeat REALISTIC thread!:woohoo: This is so much more logical.

Thank You!

5. I just do not think it will be as good as you Dem. think.
People do not give up their party fast. It come on slow for the GOP to be in power and it will go slow. I never believe those polls until the day after we vote.

9. Will this thread get as many responses as the doomsday
ones? You know, the corporate media is doing a great job of covering for the repugs and their "it's a narrowing race" storyline. We don't really need to help them.
