They actually believe there's an alternative to the "reality-based world," and that they live in it.

Doesn't the public have the right to know how close Iraq is to chaos? If Rumsfeld were summoned to Capitol Hill and asked if Iraq were closer or farther to chaos than a year ago, would he lie? I guess we have to assume he would, since, to Rumsfeld, to tell the truth would be giving away "classified" information.

But the larger point is this: it ultimately doesn't matter if Rummy would fess up or not, because facts are facts. That Iraq is in chaos is a fact, and no amount of denying or spinning will change that any more than Ted Haggard's gay bashing will magically make him into a heterosexual.

The refusal by the Bush administration, its supporters in Congress and its "spiritual advisers" to acknowledge reality is sick -- and potentially lethal to the well-being of our country. But it's clear they're not going to get better, because to do so would require they acknowledge reality enough to know they're sick in the first place.

Arianna is correct.

Denial, in the early moments of learning of a devastating, life-threatening disease is not an abnormal reaction.

However, if you don't get past denial, you're going to die way sooner than if you admit the disease and do something about it.

The theocratic, fascist malignancy that manifested itself with the Reaganoma, metastasized over and over until Kovner and his American Enterprise Institute managed to penetrate ever vital organ of our Republic with their aggressive PNAComa mutant, and now have managed to destroy almost every Constitutional and moral principle that is America.

If "We the People ..." do not succeed in resuscitating the rule of law and the value of truth on 7 Nov 2006, the patient will be dead on 8 Nov 2006.

CODE BLUE, my fellow citizens.

Never Forget: George W. Bush willfully violated National Security to cover-up his willful launch of a war of aggression and illegal occupation of Iraq .... and, now he willfully provided nuke-making instructions to terrorists -- if you doubt it, just check 'the google' ...

3. Spoken from the perspective of life and living things:
"The theocratic, fascist malignancy that manifested itself with the Reaganoma, metastasized over and over until Kovner and his American Enterprise Institute managed to penetrate ever vital organ of our Republic with their aggressive PNAComa mutant, and now have managed to destroy almost every Constitutional and moral principle that is America."

And by describing it, you know its limits, and we know that they haven't actually destroyed those things; they've just made a long and loud argument about why they are not only irrelevant, but actual hindrances to our "safety".

The body was made to deal with these infections.

You are a very wise person, my friend.

5. Great post
I tend to believe that people who are raised with both money and power have never really had to adapt to reality, anyway. The exception is when the families of the wealthy make a conscious effort to make sure their children are made aware of life as it's lived for everybody else. Some, while not born to wealth, quickly learn how to claw their way to becoming wealthy, and gladly leave all of the pesky problems of dealing with reality behind.

Bush is an example of somebody born to a wealthy and connected East Coast family, and has never had to face any truly frightening consequences in his life. If he partied in school, and his idea of participating in sports was to wave pompoms and be a cheerleader, no problem. He didn't have to worry about a sports scholarship. There was a war, but his poppy got him a cushy post with the TANG, and he couldn't even bother to fulfill those demands. How many other national guard members can ignore orders to report to a particular base, or have a drug test, when the country is at war?

Making it in business, well, he couldn't really do that either, but poppy's rich buddies always gave him a parachute, an he walked away with even more money. As far as leading this nation, he loves the position, the power, and all that goes with it, but can't be bothered to really work to make his administration successful. That's too distracting from his vacations, long weekends, fundraisers, and exercise schedules. He is a failure, and always has been. No wonder reality is not appealing to him.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, though, we don't have the luxury of living in reality, because it's the only way we can survive. With money and connections, as Dubya has learned, you can easily evade reality, and retreat behind the curtain of delusion. All it takes is billions of dollars and politically connected family friends. You, too, then, can be a war leader, even if your worthless hide has never been exposed to the dangers that title can bring.

6. Denial - Bush administration is clueless
Everything is unraveling around them, yet...stay the course.

Wednesday, those who live in the reality-based world, will be in charge!
