Republicans Surging, Blah, Blah Blah.
Pew blah, blah, blah. Gallup, blah, blah, blah. Don't be fooled. Generic national polling is a red herring. Take a look instead at the individual House polls- dems are doing quite well, thank you very much. We will net 25+ seats, and we will take the House. I'm not going to get into the motives of the MSM as to why they're trumpeting this non news, but we don't have to let ourselves get discouraged by this bullshit.

2. I agree the generic ballot is very misleading

WHat it really means is that the red safe seats are getting redder.

There is a surge there I am puzzled by but it it too litle too late.

3. It Is A Bit Disturbing But It's Still Anywhere Between Four And Sixteen...
The GOPU destroyed us in 94 with a six or so point advantage...

4. Or........
they're setting up Diebold's biggest heist of Democracy to date. They've done it before in more subtle ways but they could be throwing caution to the wind here and are going for broke with not even a hint of propriety. Direct and shameless theft of our election process and daring anyone to stop them.
This has entered my mind numerous times in the last few weeks. They have everything to lose if they DON'T.
I hope I'm wrong. I really, REALLY hope I'm wrong.

6. Not that I'm not concerned
about election fraud, but how do you see Pew being part of a bushco conspiracy? It just doesn't make any sense.

11. It's not the polls I'm concerned with........
it's the election itself. I have no faith in polls at all.

13. That's been kicking around in my mind too. It's not beyond them to
TRY--we have to hope the margin of Dem votes is too large to plausibly steal. I won't be surprised if there are a number of races that take a few days to sort out.

8. The National polls
I don't think the number is surpising, the number of votes for the democrats hasn't changed significantly. You are seeing the normal poll tightening at the end of a race. We need an advantage of something like 7% in the National poll and we have it.

9. I know - I nearly had a heart attack yesterday morning when
my local paper touted that Corker was 12 points over Ford.

Then someone here provided me with the data behind the data.

Seems they overpolled the most conservative region and severely UNDERpolled the larger, more Democratic region.

:eyes:

Other polls still show my state is neck-and-neck.

I cannot BELIEVE the levels Republicans are going to. Sad.

12. Yep - I Agree
What the hell has changed in the last week or so that all of a sudden, Repukes are surging? - absolutely nothing! In fact, with Chimpy's announcement that he is sticking with Darth Cheney and the evil Rumsfeld, how does that help - does not! Darth Cheney stating that he does not give a fuck what the American people want can't be helping either.

Dems will take the House and Senate! I am confident . . . .

On Today Show. He said it's because really, people don't like either party. Because they dislike the way things are going in general, they vote against the prevailing party. However, if the opposition party makes strong gains, they realize they dislike them, too. So consequently, you have the "backing off" as election day looms.

If his theory has any merit, it's interesting that the backoff is so small and so late.

15. Good Point..
Polling randomly doesn't really get to the heart of the matter in particular races.

Doesn't matter anyway. Straight Democratic ticket for me no matter the outcome of any poll.
