NEW CNN POLL - Dems up by 20 points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 08:15 AM by montana500
Done over the weekend:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/11/06/monday/index.html

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The percentage of likely voters who plan to vote for Democrats in Tuesday's congressional elections increased in the past week, and those voters supporting Democrats also seem less likely to change their minds before casting ballots, according to a CNN poll conducted over the weekend.

Democrats hold a 58 percent to 38 percent advantage over Republicans among likely voters in the survey released Monday morning, compared to the 53 percent to 42 percent advantage reflected in the poll a week ago. Pollsters asked people who wires.send-nat-b wires.send-nat-b identified themselves as being likely to vote which party's candidate they would you vote for in their congressional district if the election were being held today.

On this question, the poll has a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points"

41. really, I was a little scared...
...because that recent ABC poll ( R's closing gap ) even made it to European media sites. I thought "oh no, please not".

Good that CNN ( Europe ) is relieving me there...

35. It's the oldest trick in any government's arsenal
If it looks like they're going to suffer the mid-term blues, they always artificially inflate expectations of their losses so that they can turn around afterwards and say "See? It wasn't that bad". That trick was probably old when King George III was president.

10. More disconnect between big issue and candidate polls
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 09:06 AM by longship
The reason? Because the candidate polls are skewed by pollsters to make the polls fair, to adjust the number of likely voters in the district to the proportions of previous elections. But these proportions are not going to hold this year. That's why the candidate polls are going to understate Dem strength, maybe considerably.

That's okay for the pollsters because they would rather that happen than to overstate Dem strength. Predicting a closer election is better than predicting a tsunami that doesn't materialize.

But they're going to be wrong this time. This election is going to be all Dem, all night.

We have all the momentum.

Do not believe individual candidate polls!

17. If you average us with the other two polls that show us up by only 3 or 4,
you get the magic number of a 7% margin lead, which is the number considered by many to give control to the opposing party.

19. I saw only one poll...
....at 3-4%. Another had 7, another had 13, another had 16, another had 15 and another had 20.

So the average is around 12.5

26. Here's a collection of polls, some in single digits over the weekend
Polling report shows the results from literally hundreds of polls going back over a year.

This weekend seemed to show a bump for Republicans, but the two most recent polls have Democrats back up by double digits.

24. There was one poll out yesterday from Pew Trust stating this
NPR pounded on it for over five minutes.

Now, today, I see huge swings towards the Democratic Party on multiple fronts.

If 20 percent of a generic ballot is even close to right, we could pick up 50 - 60 house seats.

27. NPR has been doing exactly that
Not only are they hawking the "Closing the gap" meme, if you go through their archives for the last several weeks, you'll see a pattern of far more coverage and publicity of GOPers, even the ones doing poorly, than Dems. http//:www.npr.org

The regular CNN is actually not airing this poll? They are deliberately supressing it? It is only being aired on CNN international? We need to call them on that.

36. I just could not find a recent forum to post this to...
... and I just do not know where else to post this to get an answer. Can anyone advise me on how I could participate in exit polling for my area? Do you have to pre-register? I just saw the HBO special last night after being out of town, and tv/computer/cell range for the weekend, and I am going out with my video camera, both of my photo cameras, and 3 dictation recorders to record anything and everything.

Do I just stand outside and ask people how they voted? Is there "official" paperwork that this has be tabulated on?

Any help would be great appreciated.

37. You should inform your County's Registrar of Voters
They need to know that you are honest and competent

They do not have the legal right to stop you.

They may however send someone out to intimidate you.

Take that person's name and remember that it is against Federal Law for anyone to intimidate another citizen in matters regarding the voted.

Thank you for doing this.
