to commit vote counting fraud.

14. Very good point
You can't call it "hacked" if it's functioning exactly how the manufacturer intended.

9. I ’d like to know why our democratic leaders haven’t fixed this problem yet.
Why is it only lately that it’s come to the forefront? I know we don’t have any power in our government, but we have a voice. The only politician I heard talk about this issue is Howard Dean.

Will all the Dems who want to run for President FINALLY fight for our democracy by ‘08?

13. They did
They said, "See it even prints out a paper with your votes on it, that can be used if there's a need for a recount." :eyes:

12. They're probably right. I'm not kidding.
Y'see, if you can "hack" a Diebold machine to turn Democratic votes into Republican ones, you can also "hack" one to flip an election Democratic.

From the perspective of a nice hard-working Republican computer programmer who's just doing his part to ensure Republicans retain or increase their majorities in Congress, this would be bad.

So they have taken especial precautions to ensure that the only vote-rigging code that can run on a Diebold machine is the vote-rigging code they put on it themselves.

If you put something there on purpose, it's not a hack.

15. hopefully more Democrats will feel comfortable voting?
Complaining about the machines a day before the election really doesn't do our side any good right now, as I've talked to several people who said they won't "waste their time voting" on machines that will switch their votes anyway. After Wednesday, I am really hoping that Democrats will fight to ensure that these machines are hack proof.

16. Technically speaking...
when Diebold writes their own malicious code, it's not hacking.
