If You Get A Republican Call Stay On The Phone
Keep them on the line

If you get a call from the Republican machine trying to sway your opinion or get you out to vote for a particular Republican stay on the line and if its not recorded engage the caller. Try to sound undecided, ask lots and lots of question.

If he or she is busy talking to you in the limited time before the polls open they can't be spreading their filth to some weak-minded S O B who might actually believe it.

1. Another Strategy.... Dial *69 to get # of last call you received....
... then write down the time of day you received the call, who they said was 'responsible for this advertisement', and the gist of the ad.

This information will be important if the violations are widespread and action is taken against the perpetrators of these calls.

There are websites tallying this information today, like tpm.com, but there will be official action taken post election and your efforts will help to hold these people responsible for violating the law.

5. *69 the number, post it here and have everyone start calling the
number? If we do get through,WE keep them on the line? Will this work with automated calls?

2. Yeah, I thought about that. Even the robocalls.
The longer time they spend on you, the less time they can spend calling others.
I've been letting the machine catch everything since Friday.

3. My SO says I torture them
I say I'm just making them do their jobs. The more of their time I can waste, the better.

4. Yes. I did this with Michael Steele's recording. I did, however, hang up...
when a Steele recording called in the middle of the Redskins-Cowboys game! NOT a way to win votes and influence people, calling during THE game of the year.

A Barbara Mikulski recording called right after the game was over. She sounded like one of the Bouvier sisters on "The Simpsons."

6. On robo calls that offer choices, is there an option to go back to
previous menu? If so, we could just keep going back and tie up the lines. I'm out of town on a sales trip and don't know if I'm receiving them so I'm just asking. Is there a way to tie these lines up?
