"Don't gloat if we win"... Yeah right... |
|
This place will erupt into wild delirium. I've been a member of DU for the last several elections and I gotta tell you, the disappointment in this great forum after coming short in those elections was nothing I've felt before... OK, maybe when the Hurricanes lost to Ohio State, but I digress.
I say gloat for a couple of days and then get right to work for 2008. We need to crush this form of right winged conservatism and make sure it never rears its ugly head again.

1. I will need to say "Get Over It" to several people who deserve it. |
|
Also considering my confrontations with my neighbor I have a large cache of fireworks that I hope to be using tomorrow evening.
Right now the Dems are doing very well here in Minnesota.

Damn right. I know how I felt in 2000. Then 2002 combined with Wellstone. That was shattering. Then 2004 and I really thought that Americans would reject Bush and his politics of hate. I woke up the next day and everything was lost.
2006 might be the first year that I see Democrats succeed in an election. And it would be such a great day. Whenever I see their hate towards the gays, their rejection of stemcell research, their stances on abortion, generally their politics on the backs of minorities, then I know that I support the right party.

4. I couldn't even vote in 1968 |
|
Although I was over eighteen, I had not yet turned 21, the voting age at the time. But that was the time when Dems lost power. With the exception of two all too brief moments with Carter and Clinton, it's been Repukes in power since. One really cannot count most of Clinton's terms because of 1994's Repuke sweep of Congress. Since that time I have watched this country sink ever deeper into corruption and unaccountability--Nixon, Reagan, Bush I, Chimp.
This year is going to be a huge tsunami for the Democrats. The House is going to be ours. We're going to take House seats that nobody will be predicting. We have a very good shot at the Senate as well.
When all is said and done on Wednesday morning, our work has just begun. We have to force our Democratic majority to push the White House with one investigation after another. Accountability *must* be our number one plank.

Same thing that happened two years ago -- I remember posts celebrating President John Kerry.

15. Pollsters changed their models. |
|
Why? Probably so that news media can sell more shampoo commercials by promoting a "close election".
Nothing has changed except the pollster models.
Ignore all polls in the last 48 hours

"Get Over It!"
What's good for the Republican goose is good for the Democratic gander.
And let's not forget:
"It's a mandate!"

I am so worn down from defeat after defeat, year after year. I think we should allow ourselves a little glee time, before we get to work restoring our democracy.
