Poll: Democrats boost advantage in races for Congress

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The percentage of likely voters who plan to vote for Democrats in Tuesday's congressional elections increased in the past week, according to a CNN poll conducted during the weekend.

Those voters supporting Democrats also seem less likely to change their minds before casting ballots, the poll found

Democrats hold a 20 percentage-point advantage -- 58 percent to 38 percent -- over Republicans among likely voters in the survey released Monday morning. The Democratic advantage was 11 percentage points -- 53 percent to 42 percent -- in a poll a week ago.

Pollsters asked people who identified themselves as being likely to vote which party's candidate they would vote for in their congressional district if the election were being held today.

On this question, the poll has a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

2. Whoa, that may be unstealable
They have been trying to say that the polls are moving closer together in key races, to set us up for the steal. However, this morning on Today, Chris Matthews LAUGHED at Meredith Viera as she asked him about the closeness of the polls. He LAUGHED. He said it wasn't true, and predicted a "tidal wave".

20% lead among likely voters is a LANDSLIDE. I have hope for the first time about the Senate being won as well.

3. Yes, I hope this kind of coverage keeps up. I have been worried...

... we're being set up for the "steal". Just today, I was reading something about "despite polls favoring Democratic control of Congress, the 'wildcard' is the redistricting favoring Republicans."

There is no such 'wildcard"! That kind of tripe is written ignoring all of the individual polls for each and every district which, en masse, consistently show Dems picking up at least the house, and maybe the Senate. No one is extrapolating a tidal wave Dem win based on generic "do you favor Republicans or Democrats?" polls. They're basing it on specific polls for each individual race.

That being said, this kind of poll, and pundit talk (here from Matthews) backing it up, will make it look AWFULLY FISHY if Dems don't at least take the House.

But then, they did everything they could to steal two consecutive presidential elections and the media fell right into line afterwards. Of course, those were predicted to be close beforehand, so they had more cover.

7. I've got a tedency to put this one
in the same bin as the Pew poll from yesterday. It's nearly too good to be true.

Having said that, the Dems' margin of victory is somewhere between 4 and 20 per cent. I'll take it. :)

VOTE TOMORROW!!!!!
