Please vote. We are going to, even though ...

... it seems, especially here in Texas, a futile gesture.

Truthfully, I do believe that themselves will be brazen enough to again steal an election – at least to steal enough of it to retain leadership in the senate, likely brazen enough to steal the whole thing. Again.

Themselves will point to the “Saddam Bush Bounce” in the poles as 'explanation' for why the outcome is so different from that currently predicted. The Media will echo this, Democrats will whine on the blogs, and 'democracy' will march on.

The only chance, short of armed insurrection, of preventing this is if we can have a large enough majority that such an outcome is simply impossible for even Republicans to swallow as being true. For, I do believe, that most Republicans do not realize what their party has become, they simply do not believe the depths to which their party has sunk, and that they would protest such an obviously (even more than the last several) stolen election.

I have always been an independent voter. I have truly voted for the person I thought to be best for the job. This means I have, in the past, voted for candidates from every party from Libertarian to Communist – whether or not they had any realistic chance of winning.

I voted my conscience.

No more.

Since 2000 I have voted only for Democrats - unless one was not one running, in which case I voted for whoever was running against the Republican.

I urge you to do the same: To vote for the Democrat, no matter what.

Vote, and Vote for the Democrat: No matter how corrupt, how incompetent, how venial or senile they may be. Forget the Independents, the Greens, the Socialists. Vote for the Democrat. If I lived in Louisiana I would, without any hesitation, vote for the dude who was caught with money in his freezer. No question he is as corrupt as any Republican, but at least he is not a Republican.

Why vote in such a blindly partisan manner?

Because only the Democrats have a chance of beating the Republicans; and, the Republicans must be beaten.

The Republicans must be beaten because the Republicans have demonstrably and unquestionably become become the party of Fascism. The Republicans have become the party which, in Mussolini's words, unites the power of Capital with the power of The State.

Only by wresting power from the Republicans is there any hope of saving even the illusion of democracy.

Only the Democrats have a chance of beating them. To vote for any party other than the Democratic is to throw away not only your vote in this election, but your chance to ever have a meaningful vote in any election.

This election is not about the economy, about social justice, or about the Iraq War.

This election is about preserving our Constitutional Republic.

Vote.

Vote Democratic.

Likely this is our last chance, our last slim chance, to preserve a nation “...of the People, by the People, for the People...”

If the Fascists take this election, themselves will never lose another.

2. Just one minor change
Themselves will point to the “Saddam Bush Bounce” in the poles as 'explanation' for why the outcome is so different from that currently predicted. The Media will echo this, Democrats will whine on the blogs, and 'democracy' "fascism" will march on.
