Super Size Me: Did You See It? David A. Smith Went to High School with the Director |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 12:57 PM by IdesOfOctober
If you saw Super Size Me - the documentary about McDonald's and other fast food - please indicate as much by recommending this post. David A. Smith - the Halliburton whistleblower - graduated one year behind Morgan Spurlock, the Academy Award-nominated director of Super Size Me. They also both attended Camp SAGA (a writer's camp that both have credited): http://www.google.com/search?as_q=morgan+spurlock+camp+saga&num=10&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=indiewire.com&as_rights=&safe=imageshttp://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all&q=david+smith+camp+wwhs+saga+site%3Agroups.yahoo.comSeems like a documentary might be in order. Ides P.S. You may also know of Spurlock's show, "30 Days," which appears on FXNetworks: http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/30days/main.html.

Tell David to tell Morgan Spurlock that I said "Thank you". They showed that film at my son's school And now they refuse to eat fast food!! Isn't that grand? Not that they ate much of it anyways... But it reinforced how bad it can be for ye if ye go o`vrboard...

Morgan took a lot of grief from some in the MSM, and from some of the corporatist think tanks.

I just watched that last night! It was wonderful....I heard he was in the process of making one specifically tailored for children. Gives kids strategies for making healthier choices, that sort of thing. Have you heard anything about a kids' version? Hoping it's true;-)

That book looks like it would be just the thing for me to share with my littlest guy. He was wide eyed thru the whole viewing of SSM, and I wanted to follow up with something more on his level. My girls are all vegetarians, but Noah..well, let's just say his palate is not-so-discerning:eyes: thanx

I'm still around and still watching. My compliments. I haven't had anything to add, so I've stayed out of the fray, but I've also been keeping others elsewhere up to date on the developments. Keep it coming. And may we all do well tomorrow.

... last calls to friends and family on the West Coast are done. I'm sure more about the Halliburton stuff will emerge soon enough.
Have you e-mailed David to have your name added to the "websites gone live list" yet?

18. I had been trying to get my kids to stop eating McDonalds for years |
|
Finally got my middle schooler to watch Supersize Me and now she will not touch fast food. She actually goes around telling all her friends about what eating that crap did to Spurlock and she is dooing her science project on the chemical preservatives in junk food. We have had a McDonald's cheeseburger sitting in a box for a couple of months - still looks the same as it did when we bought it. Now that's gross!

She is a fine example of the many teachers and other educators in Raleigh County, WV who truly give their all - for far too little pay.

23. Raleigh County Special Bond Levy... |

... passed every election, and our school system reflected it. The teachers were paid slightly better than in surrounding counties, and the teaching facilities and tools were "best bang for the buck," so to speak.
Good teachers hold an IOU that can never fully be repaid.

My cousin would have graduated there in 89, but she got knocked up in her junior year and the family moved to Utah to get her away from the bad influences. :eyes:
As for me, I graduated from North Marion in 90.
