Some of you have come to expect my Election Eve E-mail. Some of you are new this year.
This year, I offer you no cartoons. No jokes. No songs. No poems.
I offer you, instead, the example of my friend, David Allen Smith.
At great personal risk, David has provided evidence that implicates key Halliburton executives in wrongdoing. David has received actual death threats.
For me, this year's e-mail is brief. Yes, I will be celebrating, per normal. Yes, I will be be cavorting come Election Night, per normal. But today, I ask you to spend your time reading something much more important than my usual merry rants.
I ask you to read the public filings that David has made at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, describing how he received e-mails intended for another David Smith - David R. Smith, the Vice President of Tax at Halliburton:
http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?company=smith+david+allen&CIK=&filenum=&State=&SIC=&owner=include&action=getcompanyI ask you to read the Associated Press and other stories, regarding David's efforts to spark Congressional oversight hearings:
http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=david+smith+halliburton+nigeria&ie=UTF-8&filter=0I ask you to bookmark David's websites:
http://www.HALwhistleblowers.org and
http://www.BushBunglesBrigade.org (updates are expected soon; these are just placeholders)
Finally, I ask you to realize that - to support his efforts - David cashed out his 401(k), to put his money where his mouth is. If he can do that, all I ask of you is that you read what he has to say, and take it into account before you step into the voting booth tomorrow.
I promise a post-Election e-mail that is my usual sort of delirious drivel. But this - THIS - is too important.
Thanks, have a good day at the polls tomorrow, and God Bless!
