Corker's Newer, Even More Racist Mailer Ad...
by nutmeg
Mon Nov 06, 2006 at 12:59:44 PM PST
I gasped. It's worse than the stupid "call me" ad. This from TN Guerilla Women, an article on a mailer sent out by Corker, via "Common Sense Ohio". It's got to be the most disgusting thing I've seen all season.

Image below the cut:

3. Here you go. Prepare to puke.

If they're called on it, they'll say it's meant to portray Ford as an "un-Tennessean" Ivy Leaguer, kind of like they did with Gore -- but why the gratuitous use of the word "colors"?! :grr:

9. Yup, sounds like Corker is still running scared
This is a dumb a** ad, like no one noticed Ford was a darker color... is this really going to be a vote clincher ad? We can only hope it backfires.

10. LOL! Corker looks darker than Ford in that mailing...
That sorta tan indicates Corker's not working very hard for his constituents, don'tcha think?

11. "School colors" have never been an issue in the Tennessee campaign.
There's no way to back out of this one and claim it isn't racist. It's about as subtle as a brick through a picture window.

Also the photos that Corker is right there, but Ford is backing away, is absolutely perception manipulation.

12. Marketing 101
As a Marketing Executive, I can spot this stuff a mile away. School colors have not once been mentioned in this campaign - this is a manipulative way of drawing "color" out for the casual reader and instantly making that racial connection.

Pure evil. GOTV Fellow Tennesseans!

13. Also note that Corker is dresser in off white while Ford is in black.
I hope this backfires. Black clothing on a man is a symbol of authority!

14. Also notice how Corker's skin color matches the yellowish border around
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 06:51 PM by file83
his photo? That's to emphasize his SKIN COLOR!

With that relationship established between skin color and photo border color, now look at Ford's photo border: It is a Blue to Red gradient with PURPLE in the blend, is this their racist "color" suggestion of an "eggplant" perhaps?

This ad is FILLED with subtle and not-so-subtle racist overtones. The ad's language is an obvious racial jab - and the graphic colors are used to underscore the racism in a very subtle way that is plausibly deniable.

16. I thought that Ford's border was to hint at the Rainbow Coalition.

15. These freaks are terrified
If they have to pull this, then Harold Ford might very well win this race.
